RYAN GOSLING, DEIDRE HALL AND THE SALEM SET VISIT THAT NEVER CAME

TL;DR: Ryan Gosling said yes to Deidre Hall’s Salem invitation in March 2026, sent a wall of flowers in April, and as of August still had not walked onto the Days of Our Lives set. Hall says he is busy. We think the quiet could be hiding something better.

Deidre Hall Made the Offer and Hollywood Said Yes

The Ryan Gosling Days of Our Lives love story started on a March podcast, when the Project Hail Mary star called soap actors underappreciated and named Deidre Hall’s possessed Marlena Evans as the performance that made him want to act. Hall answered on Instagram on March 26 with an open invitation to the Salem set, promising nobody would be possessed. Gosling fired back a video the next day: a very enthusiastic yes, any time, anywhere, to his OG acting inspiration. Six months later, he still has not shown up.

The flowers came April 15. A wall of saucer peonies landed at the Burbank studio, Hall posted a thank-you selfie, and the daytime rumor mill lit up. Then the trail went cold: no set photo, no cast selfies with the star, not one word from Peacock.

Hall has been asked twice since. In June she called him a stinker who had not made it there yet and blamed his film schedule. In August she said he has yet to come, then turned around and invited Julia Roberts. Reading between the lines, that is a woman keeping a door open, not guarding a secret. Or is it?

John Oliver Got the Full Rollout and Gosling Got Nothing

Compare the John Oliver playbook. Oliver begged the soaps for a part on March 8, and by late June he had taped a week in Salem. The show revealed his character, water inspector Devlin St. John, on August 10, and his three episodes streamed August 11, 12 and 14 opposite EJ DiMera. Set photos, a Brady Pub video, cast members lining up to gush.

Ryan Gosling, by contrast, has never been announced, photographed on the lot, or handed a character name. Dick Van Dyke taped in April 2023 and hit Peacock that September as an amnesiac who turned out to be the father of Marlena’s late husband, John. The booking was reported months ahead and only the twist stayed secret. That is how this show does stunt casting, so total silence reads more like a stalled plan than a locked vault.

Is Ryan Gosling Going to Be on Days of Our Lives?

Nobody has confirmed it, and nobody has killed it either. As of mid-August the visit was still an open invitation, and the calendar keeps our prediction alive. Gosling spent March and April touring the world for Project Hail Mary, then surfaced at D23 in mid-August to tease Star Wars: Starfighter, due in theaters May 2027. Between those press pushes sat a long, quiet stretch in Los Angeles, and Burbank is a short drive.

The spoiler chatter keeps missing one thing. Days of Our Lives tapes roughly ten months ahead, so a scene shot this summer would normally stream next spring. Oliver’s episodes streamed within weeks of filming, so if Gosling ever walks onto that set, Salem need not wait until 2027.

The Two-Week Ryan Gosling Storyline Salem Deserves

Our pitch, and we are calling it now: Gosling plays a soap opera version of himself. He blows into town to consult the world famous Dr. Marlena Evans for a movie role, right when she is buried in Stefano’s chess-set mystery and could use the distraction. She sends him around Salem for research, and the town loses its mind. Kate Roberts clears her calendar. Mayor Paulina Price declares a civic holiday.

Leo Stark takes one look and forgets every scheme he is running, including the counterfeit handbag hustle he just pitched Gabi Hernandez for $25,000. Javi Hernandez, freshly single after Gus walked out, is right behind him, and if the paramedic is still in town, so is Gus. Sarah Horton, who admitted this week she still loves Xander while moving in with Brady Black, suddenly has a third option. Stephanie Johnson might stop refereeing Alex Kiriakis and his baby drama long enough to notice.

Cue the confrontations. Philip Kiriakis, who has been circling Gabi with a proposal that is more business than romance, wants a word, Brady wants two, and Alex throws a punch on principle. By day ten Gosling leaves Salem to save the town from itself, and Marlena walks him out with the same smile Hall used on Instagram. Don’t be surprised if that is exactly the shape a real cameo would take: short, funny, and gone before anyone can complain.

The Silence Is a Scheduling Problem Until Peacock Says Otherwise

Our take: the quiet around Ryan Gosling is not a cover-up, at least not yet. Hall answers plainly whenever asked, and this show has never hidden that a celebrity was coming, only what the celebrity would be doing. If a cameo were taped and waiting, we would expect at least a wink by now.

That said, this show loves a surprise, and Hall has a habit of getting what she asks for. If I know these writers, the moment a two-week hole opens in Gosling’s calendar, somebody in Burbank picks up the phone. Pick a side, cover-up or calendar, and argue it out with us on our Facebook page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Did Ryan Gosling ever visit the Days of Our Lives set?

Not as of Deidre Hall’s most recent update in August 2026. Gosling accepted her open invitation in a March 27 video and sent her a wall of flowers on April 15, but Hall said in June and again in August that he had not made it to the Burbank studio yet, citing his film schedule.

What did Ryan Gosling say about Deidre Hall?

On a March 2026 podcast while promoting Project Hail Mary, Gosling said soap actors do not get the love they deserve and named Hall’s possessed Marlena Evans as an early inspiration. In his reply video he called her his OG acting inspiration and promised to come any time, anywhere.

How far ahead does Days of Our Lives tape?

Roughly ten months. Episodes streaming in September 2026 were taped late in 2025. Special guest spots can move faster: John Oliver’s Salem scenes streamed on Peacock only weeks after he filmed them in 2026, which means a short celebrity cameo could reach viewers well before the usual lag.
