JENNIFER HORTON HAS BECOME EVERYTHING SHE CLAIMS TO PROTECT HER GRANDCHILDREN FROM

TL;DR: Jennifer Horton’s custody battle against Chad DiMera has turned one of Salem’s most beloved families into a war zone on Days of Our Lives. While claiming to honor Abigail’s memory, Jennifer is actually traumatizing Thomas and Charlotte while conveniently ignoring her own checkered past.

The Hypocrisy Is Absolutely Staggering

The return of Jack and Jennifer Deveraux should have been a celebration. Instead, Days of Our Lives fans are watching Jennifer wage war against her own son-in-law, and the cognitive dissonance is giving everyone whiplash.

Jennifer Horton claims she’s protecting Abigail’s children from Chad’s “poor choices” and “instability.” Her evidence? Chad hugged Cat Greene while comforting her about her mother’s potential dementia. That’s it. That’s the entire case she’s building to rip two children away from their father.

Meanwhile, let’s examine Jennifer’s own track record. In 2022, she ran down Gwen Rizczech with her car while high on prescription pills. She left her stepdaughter for dead in the street. She stole medication from Doug Williams to feed her addiction. She had to be shipped off to rehab by her brother Mike because she couldn’t function without pills after Abigail’s murder.

But sure, Chad is the unstable parent here.

Thomas Is Already Showing Signs of Psychological Damage

The most heartbreaking element of this storyline is watching young Thomas crumble under the weight of adult conflict. Spoilers for this week reveal that Thomas tells Chad he feels like everyone is mad because of him. When a child believes they are responsible for their grandparents suing their father, the “protection” Jennifer claims to be providing starts looking a lot like emotional abuse.

Thomas initially asked to live with Jennifer because he was angry about Cat Greene’s involvement in impersonating his dead mother. That anger was valid and understandable. What wasn’t valid was Jennifer weaponizing that childhood emotion into a full-scale custody suit instead of getting the boy actual therapy.

Justin Kiriakis himself warned Jennifer that this lawsuit is a “long shot” legally. Chad has no criminal record. He isn’t involved in DiMera Enterprises’ shady dealings. He’s been a devoted single father since Abigail’s brutal murder. But Jennifer Horton is steamrolling ahead anyway because she apparently knows better than everyone, including her own attorney.

Is This Really About Abigail or Something Else Entirely?

Here’s what longtime Days of Our Lives fans are whispering about: this custody battle feels suspiciously like a mechanism to write Thomas and Charlotte off-canvas. With Billy Flynn’s departure looming and Conner Floyd set to debut as the new Chad in April 2026, the timing is awfully convenient.

Rumors suggest Chad might actually let Jennifer take the kids rather than drag them through courtroom warfare. He could follow them to Boston, stay close during the school year, and return to Salem when the new actor takes over the role with a mission to fight smarter.

If that’s the direction the writers are taking, it’s a clever way to handle an actor transition. But it doesn’t make Jennifer look any less sanctimonious in the process.

Jennifer Horton Has Done This Before

This isn’t even the first time Jennifer has pulled this stunt. Back in 2016, when Abigail faked her death and Chad was spiraling in grief, Jennifer Horton sued for custody of Thomas then too. She claimed Chad was too deep in mourning to be a good father. Sound familiar?

That situation eventually resolved when both Jennifer and Chad realized they weren’t in any shape to parent alone, and they worked together for Thomas’s sake. The fact that she’s doing this again, with the same self-righteous justifications, proves she’s learned absolutely nothing.

Abigail would be horrified. The woman who asked Chad with her dying breath to take care of their children would never want her mother tearing their family apart in her name. Jennifer isn’t honoring Abigail’s legacy. She’s desecrating it while wrapped in a flag of maternal righteousness.

The Real Tragedy Here

The real victims of Jennifer’s crusade aren’t Chad or even Jennifer herself. They’re Thomas and Charlotte, two children who have already lost their mother to violence and are now being forced to watch the adults in their lives destroy each other.

Chad DiMera isn’t perfect. Nobody is. But he’s a father who loves his children and has done everything possible to give them stability after unimaginable loss. Jennifer Horton should be supporting that, not sabotaging it.

This is ridiculous! Jennifer is wrong to try & take Chads children from him. He even broke up with Cat. Thomas needs to see someone for help. Marlena could help him.
