The power shift here is critical. When they were both locked up in Bayview, Sophia was the mastermind and Rachel was the younger loyal accomplice. Rachel covered for Sophia’s fake catatonia, stole cash from her dad Brady’s wallet to fund a burner phone operation, and literally ate incriminating notes rather than let them be discovered. That’s ride-or-die commitment from a child. But now Rachel is out. She’s living with Brady Black and Kristen DiMera in their new apartment. She has freedom, family, and leverage that Sophia doesn’t have.

And Sophia Choi knows it. Whatever “hardball” looks like between two teenagers, it almost certainly involves threats. Sophia has been secretly drugging Holly Jonas by swapping her skincare supplements with antipsychotic medication smuggled from Bayview. Rachel may know about this scheme, or she’s about to find out, because we’re guessing Sophia’s going to want her to be the one to deliver a “refill” to Holly. The power dynamic has switched and Rachel knows too much.

Sophia Has Nothing Left to Lose and That’s What Makes Her Dangerous

Here’s what separates Sophia Choi from Rachel Black: Rachel has people. She has Brady, who despite everything genuinely loves his daughter. She has Kristen, who will burn the world down to protect her child. She even has Marlena keeping an eye on her treatment. Rachel Black has a safety net made of deeply flawed but fiercely protective adults.

Sophia has Bayview. Oh, and Dr. Gregory, but she doesn’t really count. She’s asleep at the wheel.

That’s it. That’s the whole list. Her connection to Rachel was the closest thing she had to an ally, and now that relationship is turning adversarial. Sophia is still inside those walls, still running the Holly drugging operation remotely, and still operating without a single adult in her corner. A teenager with nothing to lose in terms of a support system and no consequences in place is the most dangerous kind of villain Days of Our Lives can create.

The Holly situation makes this exponentially worse. Holly is spiraling. She snapped at Ari this week, her behavior is becoming increasingly erratic, and she has absolutely no idea why. Spoilers indicate she may overdose again. The antipsychotic drugs Sophia planted in her skincare products are doing real damage, and Holly’s history makes this storyline genuinely frightening. If Rachel knows what Sophia did to Holly and threatens to expose it, Sophia Choi has every reason to go nuclear. Plus, Sophia has bigger fish to fry. She’s about to force Melinda Trask into sabotaging Johnny and Chanel’s ability to adopt baby Trey. The girl is evil with a capital E.

Rachel Inherited the Wrong Skill Set for This Fight

Let’s talk about genetics for a moment. Rachel Black is the daughter of Brady Black and Kristen DiMera. She inherited Brady’s impulsiveness and Kristen’s talent for manipulation. That’s a potent combination when you’re scheming against adults who underestimate you. But it’s a terrible combination when you’re going up against someone who has already proven she’ll drug an innocent girl without blinking.

Rachel plays games. Sophia plays for keeps.

The real question is whether Rachel runs to her parents for help or tries to handle Sophia on her own. If she tells Brady and Kristen that Sophia has been drugging Holly, faking her catatonic state and manipulating Rachel into making very bad choices, it blows up the entire operation but also exposes Rachel’s own involvement in the Bayview schemes. If she stays quiet to protect herself, things are going to get worse and Rachel will have another very bad deed on top of a pile of them. It’s a perfect soap opera trap: every option has consequences, and neither kid is smart enough to see the full picture.

Kristen already told Rachel “we’ll see” about extending their one-month living arrangement with Brady. She has her own agenda. Brady forced her to sign joint custody papers. And somewhere in the middle of all this parental chess, their daughter is locked in a power struggle with a girl who has nothing left to lose on Days of Our Lives. The Bayview alliance was dangerous when it was functional. The Bayview rivalry might be catastrophic.
