I’m not gonna lie — when Steve Johnson walked into The Bistro and saw all those familiar faces, I got a little misty-eyed. (Okay, fine, I full-on ugly cried.)

Stephanie Johnson really outdid herself organizing this shindig, and can we talk about the timing? Not only is our beloved Patch hanging up his private investigator badge, but Stephen Nichols is celebrating FORTY YEARS of bringing this iconic character to life! Four. Zero. Years, people!

The guest list read like a who’s who of Salem royalty: Kayla Johnson (trying to keep it together but we all saw those tears), Jada Hunter, Alex Kiriakis, Jennifer Horton Deveraux, and birthday boy Jack Deveraux himself. Talk about a family affair!

But here’s what’s got me thinking…

Is Steve REALLY ready to retire? Because didn’t Bo Brady just give him that pep talk about reconsidering? And we all know how these retirement parties go in Salem — they’re usually followed by someone desperately needing that person’s exact skill set. Mark my words: Black Patch isn’t closing for good. Not when there’s still crime to solve and adventures to be had!

Meanwhile, at Salem Hospital: Murder Most Foul (Almost)

While everyone was toasting Steve’s legacy, Xander Kiriakis was literally holding a pillow over his brother Philip’s face!

Yes. You read that right. A PILLOW.

The same Xander who’s been playing devoted husband to Sarah. The same guy who swore he’d changed. And here he is, ready to commit fratricide in broad daylight at Salem Hospital! The absolute NERVE of this man!

But wait — it gets better (or worse, depending on how you look at it). Just as Xander was about to do the unthinkable, someone interrupted him. And now? Now he’s lurking outside Philip’s hospital room like some kind of guilty vulture, trying to cover his tracks while Sarah grills him with questions.

Philip’s Eyes Are Open — But Will His Mouth Stay Shut?

Here’s where things get REALLY interesting…

Philip Kiriakis is awake! And Kate Roberts Brady — mama bear extraordinaire — is NOT playing around. She wants answers, and she wants them NOW. The million-dollar question? Will Philip point the finger at his would-be killer, or will the infamous Kiriakis family loyalty kick in?

I mean, think about it. These are the same brothers who’ve been at each other’s throats (literally, in this case) over Titan Industries. The bad blood runs DEEP. But blood is still blood, right?

Wrong.

This is Salem, where brothers betray brothers and family dinners end in fistfights. If Philip has even an ounce of self-preservation, he’ll sing like a canary. But then again… this IS the Kiriakis family we’re talking about. They’ve covered up worse.

Happy Birthday, Jack! (Because We Needed SOME Joy Today)

In the midst of all this chaos, can we take a moment to appreciate Jennifer giving Jack that huge cupcake? Sometimes it’s the simple moments that remind us why we love this show. After everything the Deveraux family has been through, seeing them celebrate together just hits different.

What Happens Next Will Leave You SPEECHLESS

So where does this leave us?

Steve’s retirement party might be the end of an era, but something tells me Patch isn’t done protecting Salem just yet. Forty years of adventure doesn’t just end with cake and speeches — especially not when his loved ones might need him more than ever.

As for Xander? Oh boy. The walls are closing in, and fast. Sarah’s asking questions. Kate’s on the warpath. And Philip? Well, he holds all the cards now, doesn’t he?

Will Philip expose his brother’s murder attempt? Will Kate figure out what really happened? Can Xander talk his way out of THIS one? (Spoiler alert: probably not.)
