XANDER KIRIAKIS IS DESPERATE AND MAGGIE HOLDS ALL THE POWER

TL;DR: Xander Kiriakis shows up at the Kiriakis mansion with a Christmas gift and a humble apology for Maggie on Days of Our Lives. This rare display of vulnerability signals he genuinely wants to change, but Maggie’s reaction is cautious. She makes no promises.

The Apology Nobody Saw Coming

Well. Here we are. Xander Kiriakis, the man who beat Philip senseless and lied about it to everyone who loved him, is now standing in Maggie’s living room with a wrapped gift and a plea for forgiveness. And honestly? Part of me wants to believe him.

This is not the Xander we’ve watched swagger through Salem for years. This is a man who has lost EVERYTHING. His wife served him divorce papers. His power at Titan was stripped away. The woman who treated him like family now looks at him like a stranger she’s not sure she can trust. That kind of loss changes people. Or at least, it should.

Days of Our Lives is leaning hard into Xander’s vulnerability here, and Paul Telfer is selling every second of it. The Christmas gift isn’t some grand gesture meant to buy forgiveness. It’s the offering of a man who has run out of moves and knows it. Maggie holds his entire future in her hands, and she knows it too.

Maggie Is Not the Same Woman Anymore

Here’s what makes this situation so fascinating. The Maggie Horton Kiriakis we knew for decades would have probably accepted that apology with tears and cookies. But that Maggie? She’s gone.

Ever since she physically took Xander’s CEO chair and threatened to send him to prison, Maggie has been operating like Victor’s ghost possessed her. She’s running Titan. She’s making threats. She’s done being the forgiving grandmother who believes everyone deserves another chance. And honestly, after what Xander put her through with the Philip situation, can you blame her?

When Xander walks in with that apology, Maggie hears him out. She appreciates the gesture. But she makes absolutely no promises. That right there tells you everything. This isn’t resolution. This is a woman keeping her options open because she’s been burned too many times to fall for pretty words again.

The spoilers remind us that Xander’s past attempts to make amends “don’t always go as planned.” Which is soap code for: don’t get comfortable. If you’ve been watching Days of Our Lives coverage, you know this family never stays peaceful for long.

Why This Feels Like the Calm Before the Storm

Something about this apology feels too… easy. Xander Kiriakis has spent months spiraling. He assaulted Philip. He lied to Sarah. He watched his entire life crumble. And now one Christmas gift is supposed to fix things?

Don’t be surprised if this moment of humility is just the setup for something much messier. The man still has rage bubbling under the surface. Brady Black is living in that mansion now, getting closer to Sarah every day. Philip is working alongside Maggie at Titan while Xander sits powerless on the sidelines. That’s a pressure cooker waiting to explode.

If Maggie accepts this apology, she’s taking a MASSIVE risk. Because Xander’s track record suggests he’s one bad day away from destroying whatever progress he’s made. And if she rejects him? She might push him right back into the darkness she’s trying to save him from.

Either way, fans are going to be talking about this one for weeks. The emotional stakes are through the roof, and Maggie’s choice will define the Kiriakis family’s future.

I feel bad for Xander. He is trying so hard to be a better person. He admitted to his faults. He lost Sarah & his daughter in the process. At the ornament hanging, Maggie should have still put Xander’s ornament on the tree. He is Victoria’s father. He shouldn’t be put out from this tradition. I do like Brady but Sarah isn’t the one he needs. I think that he could work on his relationship with Kristen.
