General Hospital Bombshell: Chris McKenna Is Out as Jack Brennan Exits
Jack Brennan leaving General Hospital chatter claims a fall death for the WSB chief, but the rumor arrives with zero confirmation attached.

Jack Brennan Leaving General Hospital as Shocking Report Says Chris McKenna Is Out
JACK BRENNAN REPORTEDLY KILLED OFF THIS FALL
TL;DR: A new casting report says Chris McKenna exits General Hospital this fall with Jack Brennan killed off. No final airdate exists yet, and the network has not confirmed the news.
The Report That Changed Everything
Yes, the exit talk is real this time. Word of Jack Brennan leaving General Hospital turned into a full sourced casting report on Wednesday afternoon, with Chris McKenna said to depart this fall and his WSB chief set to be killed off as the show leans harder into its spy stories. No final airdate has been announced.
Two hedges before anyone lights a candle. The network has not confirmed the report, and McKenna himself has not said a public goodbye, so the fall timing stays reported rather than official. That is the honest state of play as of Wednesday evening, and it can change with a single network statement. Given the sourcing behind it, though, this one deserves to be taken seriously.
The whiplash is brutal. Just one year ago McKenna personally squashed identical death chatter at the show’s fan club weekend, the same event where his bump from recurring to contract status drew roaring applause. He thanked fans on X at the time, writing that “The overwhelming support from you beautiful people helped make it happen.” Twelve months later, the support may not be enough to save the spymaster.

A Merciless Summer of Goodbyes
The Brennan bombshell caps a punishing stretch of departures. Kirsten Storms and Bradford Anderson were written out on July 23, with Maxie Jones and Damian Spinelli moving the whole family to Australia. Nathan Dean played his last episode as Ethan Lovett on July 17, and recast Christian Howard barely lasted a week before Ethan fled the canvas, last seen in Oslo on August 4. Anyone tracking the latest General Hospital casting news has needed a scorecard just to keep the exits straight.
What sets this exit apart is the method. Jack Brennan is not getting a plane ticket and a fond farewell. The report is blunt: a death, landing in the fall, right as the WSB becomes the show’s center of gravity.
Is Jack Brennan Leaving General Hospital?
Yes, and reportedly in a body bag. The character is set to be killed off this fall, though no last episode has been dated and nothing has aired yet. Here is the wrinkle other coverage keeps missing: this is the second life of the exact rumor cycle McKenna shut down in August 2025, which means either the old leak was early rather than wrong, or the story shifted under him in the year since. Either way, the fall death now arrives with real sourcing instead of whispers.
The timing stings because Jack Brennan has never mattered more. His romance with Carly Spencer went down in flames, with Carly now on the arm of Valentin Cassadine and unable to forgive him for pulling her daughter Josslyn Jacks into the WSB. His slow burn with Nina Reeves jumped from a first kiss to a night together last month. He is also the man holding the black box file that keeps Drew Cain locked into a mutual silence deal.
Who Ends Up Pulling the Trigger
Could this mean Valentin finally settles the score, or that the black box secrets get their keeper killed? Reading between the lines, a WSB heavy fall practically begs for the spymaster’s funeral to detonate every secret he holds. If I know these writers, Jack Brennan goes out taking somebody’s reputation with him. One caution before the grieving starts: this franchise faked Britt Westbourne‘s death, and a Port Charles body bag is never quite a guarantee.

Port Charles Is Losing Its Best Spy at the Worst Possible Time
Our take: killing Brennan is a gutsy call and a costly one. The character sits at the junction of the Carly war, the Nina romance, and the Drew standoff, and removing him detonates all three at once. That is exactly why the writers would do it, and exactly why fans are going to scream.
We will be watching every fall promo for the first hint of a farewell arc, and we will publish the final airdate the moment it exists. Until then, light a candle for the spymaster and start arguing over who does the deed. Bring your suspect list to our Facebook page.

It’s terrible what Frank is doing to such a great cast to save a buck! Maxie should have been recast until such time Kirsten could return instead of firing the whole family!
The recast of Ethan and the plethora of new, young males at I’m sure a cheaper pay-check, can’t make up for vets like Kirsten or Chris! I’m a longtime viewer since episode one and right now I feel totally let down by this slash and burn attitude of the cast! Where is loyalty, Frank!?
