CARLY SPENCER SAID SHE’D HOLD THE LINE. VALENTIN SHOULD SLEEP WITH ONE EYE OPEN.

TL;DR: Carly Spencer and Valentin Cassadine have a clean, smart plan to bring down Jenz Sidwell and Jack Brennan on General Hospital, and Carly has already told Valentin she reserves the right to blow the whole thing to save her brother.

The Plan Is Tight. Carly Spencer Is Not.

There is a version of this operation that works. Carly Spencer and Valentin Cassadine stay quiet. They let the pressure build. They bring down Jenz Sidwell and Jack Brennan together in one clean takedown, Josslyn Jacks gets free, and Lucas Jones makes it out the other side without ever knowing how close to the edge he was standing. That version exists. It is achievable. It requires exactly one thing from Carly Spencer.

Silence.

She is already struggling with it.

Lucas now knows Marco is connected to Sidwell. He already confronted Marco directly about it, which means Sidwell knows Lucas knows, which means the clock on this entire operation just started ticking out loud. Valentin’s read is cold and correct: if they tell Lucas everything, Lucas tells Marco, Marco tells Sidwell, and the whole thing burns to the ground. So Lucas is on his own. That is the deal. Valentin is not moving off it.

And Carly sat across from him and said fine. She agreed. She is holding the line.

For now.

She Already Told Him She Might Break

Here is the part that should have Valentin sleeping with one eye open every single night until this is over. Carly did not agree to the plan and walk away. She told him point blank that if she decided to warn Lucas, she would give Valentin a heads-up first so he could prepare. She said that. Out loud. To her co-conspirator. During the actual planning meeting.

That is not a woman committed to the operation. That is a woman who has already made her decision and is giving Valentin the courtesy of a countdown. She essentially handed him a grenade and told him she reserved the right to pull the pin whenever her gut told her to. Valentin accepted those terms. Which either means he trusts her far more than the evidence supports, or he has a contingency plan ready for the exact moment she cracks. Neither option is particularly comforting.

Carly Spencer Has Never Once Left Someone She Loves as Collateral Damage

And that is the entire problem with this plan. Valentin is built for operations like this. He has spent his entire life making cold calculations and living with the consequences. Carly Spencer is built for something else entirely. She is built for loyalty. For showing up. For burning every carefully constructed strategy to the ground before she lets someone she loves take the fall alone.

Lucas is not an acceptable loss to Carly. He is her brother. The second he is in real, imminent danger — not theoretical risk, not strategic inconvenience, but actual harm — she is going to blow this plan apart with both hands and she is not going to apologize for it.

That is not a flaw. That is just who Carly Spencer has always been. And General Hospital has spent decades proving it.

Here Is the Wild Speculation We Cannot Stop Thinking About

What if Valentin already knows she is going to break? What if the man who has spent his entire life outmaneuvering everyone in every room has already built a version of this plan that survives Carly going rogue? What if he gave her just enough rope on purpose, knowing that when she warned Lucas, it would actually force Sidwell’s hand and accelerate the timeline in their favor?

Valentin Cassadine playing four-dimensional chess with Carly Spencer as his most unpredictable piece is exactly the kind of delicious, diabolical television that General Hospital does better than anyone. And if we are right, the takedown that is coming for Sidwell and Brennan is going to be so much more spectacular than anything either of them planned out loud.

Is Carly Spencer going to hold the line long enough to save Josslyn, or does Lucas blow everything wide open first? And is Valentin actually three steps ahead of all of it? Sound off in the comments!

WATCH THIS: Should BLQ leave Chase?

@soapoperamag Brook Lynn, just file for divorce…. Honestly, what else is there to do? She deserves a man who isn't dedicated to his ex. She deserves to be her husband's one and only. Chase is too obsessed with Willow and overloaded for his hatred of Michael that I fear BLQ will never be the first thing on his mind. #GeneralHospital ♬ original sound – Soap Opera Magazine
