GENERAL HOSPITAL SAYS GOODBYE TO WES RAMSEY AS PETER AUGUST’S HAUNTING FINALLY ENDS

TL;DR: Wes Ramsey has wrapped his 2026 return as Peter August on General Hospital, exiting once again after Anna Devane finally broke free of the hallucination that had been haunting her for months, according to Soap Opera Digest.

General Hospital Sends Peter August’s Ghost Packing

Port Charles finally exorcised a demon that’s been haunting Anna’s head for months. Wes Ramsey wrapped his return as Peter August in the Wednesday, September 9 episode, when Anna Devane turned her gun on the vision only she could see out at Mount Emerson. Anna had Jason Morgan and Britt Westbourne staring down her barrel, hissing that Britt is exactly like her father before she fired. The bullet was never meant for either hostage.

Anna was aiming at the hallucination of Peter that has bullied her since her captivity in France, and once she pulled that trigger, the ghost finally shut up. This is a return wrapping up, not a brand-new exit story, since Ramsey has been popping in and out of Port Charles as Anna’s mental stowaway since January.

Got a theory on whether Peter’s hallucination is really gone for good? Send it to amber@soapoperamagazine.comand we may feature it on the site!

A Ghost Story Nine Years in the Making

Ramsey first landed in Port Charles back in 2017 as the secret son of supervillain Cesar Faison, a role that spiraled through kidnappings, fake deaths, and a body count long enough to fill its own file. Peter finally met his end in February 2022, when Felicia Scorpio took a tire iron to his head to save Maxie Jones. He resurfaced briefly in January 2026 as a hallucination while Anna was drugged and held hostage by Ross Cullum, then vanished again until July, when the vision returned for good and started egging Anna toward killing Britt. Ramsey has been showing up ever since as pure psychological torment, never once appearing to anyone but Anna.

Is Peter August Really Done Haunting Anna?

Anna Devane spent this whole arc one bad day away from becoming exactly the kind of killer Faison always wanted her to be, and Wes Ramsey’s exit means she finally won that fight in her own head. Britt Westbourne walked away from that gun barrel still shaken, and Jason Morgan’s the only reason either woman made it out of those woods. Nothing in soaps stays buried forever, and a hallucination that’s already come and gone twice is never a permanent goodbye.
