CURTIS ASHFORD CAUGHT A FELONY AND HE STILL THINKS HE WON

TL;DR: Curtis Ashford broke Isaiah Gannon’s hand at the Metro Court Gardens, told Dante it was a misunderstanding, and walked out of the PCPD believing the whole thing would blow over. On General Hospital this week, Justine Turner showed up at the Ashford home with felony assault and battery charges and a heads-up the arraignment was hours away. Curtis is the only person in Port Charles who has not figured out he is in real trouble.

The Punch That Was Never Going to Be a Misunderstanding

Curtis Ashford has been telling himself a story all week, and the story is that he was provoked. That Isaiah Gannon ran his mouth about being a better father, that one swing in a public garden was a heated argument that got out of hand, and that the man holding the bruised knuckles is somehow the victim. Everybody else has done the actual math. Portia Robinson screamed at him in real time. Joe Fitzpatrick clapped the cuffs on him without blinking. And Justine Turnersat with Sonny Corinthos above Charlie’s, pulled out the police report on her phone, and stopped pretending she could find a way out of this for her friend Jordan.

The piece that turns this from a bar fight into a felony is the damage. Isaiah’s hand is destroyed. Multiple broken bones, severed tendons, several surgeries to even attempt a reconstruction. Dr. Sherman delivered the news with the face only a hand specialist can make. Isaiah’s surgical career is in serious doubt. And while he sat with Portia processing the end of everything he built, a young patient named Derek was being told his liver transplant would have to be postponedbecause the only specialist on call could not hold a scalpel.

The Smirk Walking Out of the PCPD Was the Last Good Day

Watch what Curtis did at the police station. Strolled out with a smirk. Gave Joe Fitzpatrick a look on the way past, the kind of look that says you got me this time, you will not get me twice. Jordan paid the bail. Jordan Ashford told her partner the case would not go forward, that Justine knew the circumstances, that this would settle. She believed it because she needed to believe it. Meanwhile Justine was already on her way to Charlie’s to tell Sonny she could not find a single angle that let her drop this. Sonny told her to take Curtis and Jordan out of the equation entirely. She did. She looked at the facts as if she had never met any of these people in her life. The facts said prosecute. So she prosecuted.

And then Justine drove to the Ashford home with the heads-up. Felony assault and battery. Arraignment hours away. The kind of charge that does not vanish with a sit-down, a public apology, or one of those press releases Curtis is so good at writing. The kind of charge that drags Jordan in as a witness, drags Portia in as a witness, drags Trina Robinsonin as the daughter caught between the father who punched and the surgeon her mother is married to. Trina already asked Portia to convince Isaiah to show Curtis mercy. Portia said no.

Curtis Ashford Is Going to Lose Everything He Touches

The recovery guy. The man who did the work. The man who stood at the front of his own podcast preaching accountability for years. That version of Curtis Ashford does not survive this case. He loses the boardroom because no executive team keeps a felony defendant in the corner office. He loses Trina the second she has to pick between defending her father and admitting what he did to the surgeon who could have saved a kid named Derek. He loses Jordan if she finally lets herself feel what she has been pushing down all week, that the man she stood by through everything threw one punch in a public garden and ended a surgical career. And he loses Kai Taylor, Derek’s loudest advocate, who is already going around Port Charles blaming Curtis Ashford for the postponement.

The Curtis we knew was supposed to be done with this. The ego, the swagger, the swing-first instinct, all of it. Last week swept all of that promise back onto the canvas in one lunge. And Justine knocking on the door was the moment the cost actually arrived. He still has not figured it out. Place your bets on what kind of man walks out of the arraignment.

Does Curtis cop a plea, ride it out in court, or lose Jordan before the gavel even falls? Tell us in the comments who walks away whole and who is unrecognizable by the time this is over!

I don’t understand why writers are playing up such a friendship between Jordan/Justine for her to even think about not prosecuting Curtis for his behavior. All viewers have seen between the two are a few conversations about Sonny, other miscellaneous subjects and of course their sharing yoga lessons. Guess the friendship that is being played up now evolved off canvas.
