Ethan Lovett has already proven what he’s willing to do for Ava Jerome. He took a bullet protecting her during the Sidwell hostage crisis, and even delirious from blood loss, he let something slip that changed everything: “Phoebe, not my daughter.”
That confession finally caught up with him. Ethan admitted the truth outright, he isn’t Phoebe’s biological father. He made a promise to someone named Delilah and has been posing as the baby’s father this entire time to protect her.
Ava wasn’t buying an innocent explanation. Certain Ethan was running some kind of scam against the Quartermaines, she threatened to expose him. Ethan didn’t deny the stakes, he simply asked her to drop it, insisting he was as serious about protecting Phoebe as he’d been about saving Ava’s life.

Who Is Delilah, and What Is Ethan Really Hiding?
Here’s where we’re planting our flag: we don’t think this is a scam at all, and we think Delilah is the key to something much bigger than a simple lie about paternity.
Ethan Lovett took a bullet for Ava without hesitation, purely on instinct. That’s not the profile of a con man running an angle on a wealthy family. We think Delilah is someone Ethan loved and lost, possibly Phoebe’s actual mother, and that his promise to her involves protecting the baby from a danger nobody else knows about yet.
If that’s true, Ava Jerome holds more power over Ethan Lovett than she realizes. She saved his life once already, and now she’s deciding whether to destroy the one promise he has left to keep. We think her own history with impossible choices, protecting Avery, protecting secrets that could hurt people she loves, makes her more likely to sit on this than expose it, even if she never fully trusts his explanation.
