RIC LANSING GETS AN EYEFUL AND PORT CHARLES SHOULD WORRY

TL;DR: Next week’s spoilers hand Ric Lansing an eyeful on Wednesday and a spiral on Thursday, right as Liz opens up to Dante. The last time this man truly spiraled, Port Charles got a panic room.

The Spoiler Slate Reads Like a Warning Label

The General Hospital spoilers for Ric Lansing next week read like a warning label, not a romance recap. Wednesday, August 19 promises that Ric gets an eyeful. Thursday, August 20 pairs two lines that belong together: Liz opens up to Dante, and Ric spirals. That is the official slate word for word, and every bit of it is scheduled, not yet aired.

On paper, a boyfriend catching a warm moment between his girlfriend and another man is standard soap fuel. This is not standard. Elizabeth Webber and Dante Falconeri have been circling each other since spring, and the show has now gone out of its way twice to film Ric noticing.

The first flare came on May 27, when Ric raced to Elizabeth’s hospital bedside and heard her defending Dante with real feeling. He answered with a pointed little question about Lulu and a look that lingered far too long. The second landed on August 3, when Ric found the pair huddled over softball talk in the park, needled Dante about the police department’s losing streak, then kissed Elizabeth like a man planting a flag. The jealousy stopped being subtext months ago. It has been right there on screen since spring.

Why This Bond Cuts Deeper Than Softball

Here is the piece the circulating spoiler chatter keeps missing. Elizabeth’s role in Dante’s life goes far past batting practice. Back in July, Dante confessed to her that he buried the evidence tying his son Rocco Falconeri to the nonfatal pier shooting of Ross Cullum in March. She has been carrying his career-ending secret for weeks, which makes her his confidant in the fullest, most dangerous sense of the word.

That context reshapes Thursday’s spoilers entirely. When Liz opens up to Dante, the confidence they deepen already runs through a police cover-up. And Ric Lansing is a defense attorney who spent the mid-2000s weaponizing exactly that kind of information against the people who crossed him.

Is Ric Lansing Turning Bad Again on General Hospital?

Nothing official says Ric Lansing goes full villain, and the honest answer is that the spoiler verbs are vague on purpose. What the slate confirms is an eyeful on Wednesday and a spiral on Thursday, and what history confirms is what a spiral looks like on this particular man. My gut tells me the writers are testing the lock on a door they deliberately reopened last year, when Ric spent part of 2025 shackled in a basement in a story built as a dark mirror of his own worst chapter.

The Panic Room Precedent Nobody Should Forget

For newer viewers, that chapter is genuinely chilling. In 2003, Ric held his half-brother Sonny Corinthos‘s pregnant wife Carly captive in a soundproofed panic room for roughly a month, planning to claim the baby and raise it with Elizabeth. He also secretly dosed Elizabeth with birth control pills until she collapsed. That is the benchmark this character has spent two decades outrunning, and it is why a single word like spirals lands so hard now.

Reading between the lines, I see two roads from here. Road one is the sympathetic slow burn, where Ric confronts the jealousy, overcorrects, and pushes Elizabeth toward Dante all by himself. Road two is the one the writers keep loading. The eyeful festers, the lawyer instincts kick in, and Ric Lansing starts quietly digging into what Elizabeth and Dante actually share. If he digs, he will not find an affair, he will find the Rocco cover-up, and don’t be surprised if a jealous attorney holding leverage over the Falconeri family turns out to be the most dangerous version of this man since the panic room.

Port Charles Needs the Old Ric More Than It Wants to Admit

Our take is simple: reformed Ric has been pleasant, and pleasant is a waste of Rick Hearst. This actor does simmering menace better than almost anyone in daytime, and the show has spent two years politely ignoring that weapon. A jealousy story with real teeth, built on twenty years of history instead of a manufactured misunderstanding, is exactly the assignment he deserves.

Whether Ric claws his way back from the edge or dives off it, Wednesday and Thursday just became appointment television. Pick your road, defend your man, and bring your receipts to our Facebook page, because this debate is going to get loud.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who is Elizabeth Webber dating on General Hospital in 2026?

Elizabeth Webber is dating Ric Lansing. The couple reconciled on Valentine’s Day 2026 with an axe throwing date and have stayed together on screen ever since. Her growing friendship with Dante Falconeri centers on hospital softball and shared confidences, and no romance between Elizabeth and Dante has aired.

What did the old Ric Lansing do in the panic room storyline?

In 2003, Ric Lansing held a pregnant Carly captive for roughly a month in a soundproofed panic room, planning to claim her baby. He also secretly dosed Elizabeth with birth control pills until she collapsed. That storyline remains the darkest chapter in the character’s history and the benchmark fans still measure him against.

Ric already knows Rocco shot Cullum and about the cover-up.Plus if Ric tries to blackmail Dante into staying away from Elizabeth by threatening to reveal Rocco shot Cullum Ric would be destroying his relationship with Sonny since i don’t think Sonny would be happy with Ric going after his son and grandson.

I’m team Ric. Always. All I see is that the writers want to force Elizabeth and Dante together, but they are actually VERY boring, so they are using Ric’s magnetism and strength as a character to make this whole thing remotely interesting. He’s always being sacrificed to prop up crap. Not the first time, probably not the last. I’m used to it. I hate it, but I’m used to it. I do know that Rick Hearst is going to slay as he always does. The problem these writers never get is that using Ric to prop up everyone else doesn’t make them look better; it just makes their deficiencies more apparent.
