GH Spoilers: Sonny Corinthos Unleashes a Vengeful Ethan Lovett on Jenz Sidwell
Sonny Corinthos finally pulls the trigger on the Jenz Sidwell takedown, warning Ethan Lovett the long-awaited warlord reckoning has begun in Port Charles.

SONNY CORINTHOS WARNS ETHAN LOVETT THE JENZ SIDWELL HIT IS ON
TL;DR: After months of biting his tongue and swallowing his rage, Sonny is finally moving on Jenz Sidwell — and he’s handing the bullet to Ethan Lovett. The warning? “Once it starts, there’s no stopping it.” Buckle up, General Hospital fans.
Sonny Corinthos Says the Words Ethan Lovett Has Been Waiting For
Soap fans, grab your snacks. Friday’s General Hospital is about to detonate.
For weeks — months, honestly — Sonny Corinthos has been sitting on the Jenz Sidwell problem like a man babysitting a grenade. The piers? Sold under duress. Jason Morgan? Whisked off to a Jakarta WSB cell. Mayor Laura Collins? Twisting on the hook of those Dalton trunk photos Sidwell loves to wave around like a party favor. And through ALL of it, Sonny has played the long game. The patient game. The “I’ll get him when the moment is right” game.
Friday? The moment is right.
In the May 8 preview that has GH Twitter absolutely losing it, Sonny looks Ethan Lovett dead in the eye and warns him, “Once it starts, there’s no stopping it.” Chills. Actual chills. Because Ethan — Holly Sutton‘s son, the wild Spencer card we didn’t know we needed — has been chomping at the bit for this exact assignment since the second he walked back into Port Charles three weeks ago. Nathan Dean stepping into the role has been EVERYTHING — this Ethan is darker, hungrier, and laser-focused in a way the old Ethan never quite managed.
Why Ethan? Because Jenz Sidwell Made It Personal
Let’s not pretend Sonny picked Ethan out of a hat. There’s a reason this hit is HIS to take, and that reason is named Holly. Sidwell tried to murder Ethan’s mother in Africa back in 2024. Tried. To. Kill. His. MOTHER. The diamonds Holly walked away with were just the cherry on top — the real wound is personal, and Ethan has been quietly nursing it ever since.
When Ethan first offered to take Sidwell out on April 27, he didn’t dress it up. He looked Sonny in the face and said, “The world would be a much better place without Jenz Sidwell in it.” Goosebumps! Sonny declined that day — too risky, too many photos still in play, Mayor Laura still vulnerable. But the gun was already loaded. We all knew it. The only question was when Sonny would finally say “go.”

The Stakes? Honestly, Sky-High
Here’s the part that has my stomach in knots. Sonny Corinthos is moving on Sidwell at the WORST possible moment, and I’m not sure he realizes it. Jason is gone. Carly is tangled up with Valentin AND Brennan. Ric Lansing might or might not be selling Sonny out — Sonny thinks he is, and caught Ric in a flat-out lie this week. Cassius Faison just kidnapped Josslyn at Wyndemere while wearing his dead twin’s face like a Halloween mask. Port Charles is on FIRE, and Sonny’s response is to pour gasoline on it.
But — and hear me out — maybe that’s the point. Maybe Sonny has done the math and realized that as long as Sidwell is breathing, none of his people are safe. The piers are already lost. Jason is already gone. The Dalton photos are already out there. What more does Sonny have left to lose? At a certain point you stop hedging and you swing.
If I know these GH writers, they’re not letting this play out clean. Don’t be surprised if the takedown gets messy fast — maybe Sidwell sees Ethan coming, maybe somebody Sonny loves catches a stray bullet, maybe those Dalton photos drop the second Sidwell’s heart stops beating. Reading between the lines of Sonny’s “once it starts” warning, he KNOWS this could blow up in his face. He’s doing it anyway.
That’s the Sonny Corinthos we know. That’s the Sonny Corinthos who built this empire from a shoeshine box and a stubborn streak. And honestly? After watching him eat one humiliation after another for the last year, I’m here for him picking up the gun one more time. Drop the body, take back the piers, walk out clean — that’s the Sonny we want.
Where do you stand, Port Charles people? Is Sonny finally taking back his power, or is this the move that destroys him for good? Drop your hot take in the comments — I’m reading every single one!
