Hudson Parker has parked himself in the one house where the juiciest secret in Port Charles takes her naps. He helped Brook Lynn Quartermaine set up Phoebe’s portable crib in the solarium, played peekaboo like a man who has done it before, and evaporated the second Chase walked in. Nobody makes an exit that tidy by accident.

Remember what Hudson was told the last time he asked about a baby. In Norway, he roughed up a man until he heard that Delilah Wilson’s child was gone. Brook Lynn Is Pouring Her Heart Out To The Wrong Shoulder

Brook Lynn’s marriage is crumbling, the custody fight over Phoebe is brewing, and Chase has told Willow Tait he fears his wife might outmaneuver him, so he plans to be ready to do the same. A woman standing in that crossfire will lean on anyone who offers a hand, and Hudson Parker has been offering plenty. He has already shown sympathy for a marriage ending with a child involved, which is a very tender thing for a possible father to say about this particular child.

Sympathy is the cheapest key in the soap business. It opens doors, it opens mouths, and it opens a mother’s calendar to a man who keeps turning up. Brook Lynn is also terrified that Chase will run back to Willow, which means she’s emotionally shopping for allies. Hudson makes a very charming applicant.

Remember, too, who else is circling that marriage. Chase moved back into the mansion to be closer to Phoebe, even though he has made no decision about the marriage, and Brook Lynn instantly deduced the idea came from his lawyer. Officially, Hudson is Josslyn Jacks’ right hand at JJE, and he came to the mansion looking for her. That is the best cover a man could ask for. He can wander the Quartermaine halls, run into Brook Lynn, and bond with a baby, all while holding a perfectly respectable reason to be in the building.

He’s also no fool. When Josslyn announced she wanted to bankrupt Sonny Corinthos through JJE, Hudson warned her about personal revenge, then got behind her plan once she laid out the strategy.
