The Murder Cullum Thought Would Tie Off His Loose End
Cullum has spent weeks playing the patient puppet master, but today he went full executioner. He cornered Jack Brennan at Turning Woods, restrained him to the bed, and flooded the room with poison gas, the kind of cold, methodical kill a man commits when he has decided a person is nothing but a problem to erase.
And Ross Cullum could not resist gloating first. He taunted Jack as the gas did its work, bragging that he would take the WSB black box with him when he left town, certain that whatever it held would be a tidy insurance policy if his plans went sideways. Then he simply walked out and left Jack to die alone.
This was Cullum cleaning house before he vanishes. Jack knew too much, asked too many questions, and sat squarely in the path of a man tying off every thread before he disappears. To Cullum, this was not personal. It was bookkeeping, and that somehow makes it colder.

Nina Walks Into the Worst Discovery of Her Life
Then came the gut punch. Nina Reeves stopped by, with no idea what waited for her, and found Jack lifeless. Picture her face in that doorway, the breath leaving her body as she registers that her ally, the man who has been at her side through all of this, is sprawled and unmoving in a room that reeks of poison.
That is where they left us, on Nina’s horror and a man who may or may not be breathing. It is the cruelest kind of cliffhanger, the one that dangles a death without confirming it, daring us to spend the whole break wondering if Jack Brennan made it out alive.
We have to say it, though. Soaps adore the word lifeless precisely because it is not the word dead. There is a world of medical miracle hiding in that gap, and we would not start grieving Jack so soon.
Why We Think Cullum Doomed Himself
Here is where our heads went. Cullum thinks the black box is his golden parachute, his guarantee of a clean getaway. We think it is the opposite. The second a desperate villain clutches the one piece of evidence that can sink everyone, that evidence becomes the thing the entire canvas comes hunting for, and he has painted a target on his own back.
Our bet is that Jack survives, because a gassed-but-living victim is worth ten times a corpse to a story like this. A living Jack can name his attacker, expose the box, and turn from loose end into Cullum’s worst nightmare. We predict the man Cullum tried hardest to silence becomes the voice that brings him down.
And do not count out the woman in that doorway. A horrified Nina with a wronged loved one and a name to scream is a force of nature. We think Nina’s grief curdles into a vendetta, and Cullum is going to regret leaving a witness who loves the man he tried to kill. The walls are tightening faster than he knows, and that black box is the noose.
