SHOCKING GH Casting News! Kirsten Storms Exits as the Show Officially Writes Out Maxie Jones
Kirsten Storms is exiting GH Spoilers as Maxie Jones, with her whole family relocating to Australia in a permanent on-screen send-off.

KIRSTEN STORMS EXITS GH AS MAXIE JONES
TL;DR: General Hospital has written out Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms). The July 23 episode revealed that Maxie, Spinelli (Bradford Anderson), and their family are relocating to Australia, closing out one of the show’s longest-running characters.
Kirsten Storms Exits General Hospital
Kirsten Storms is departing General Hospital as Maxie Jones. The July 23 episode confirmed that Maxie, Spinelli, and their family are moving to Australia, marking her exit from Port Charles.
The news caps off a complicated year. Storms returned on February 12 after a six-month hiatus, with Maxie waking from a coma to learn her late husband Nathan had seemingly come back from the dead.
That storyline had real potential. It turned out “Nathan” was actually an impostor, his own twin Cassius Faison, who had fallen for Maxie’s best friend Lulu in the meantime. But Storms only appeared in a handful of episodes before Maxie disappeared from the canvas again, with GH later explaining her absence as an extended family trip to the Grand Canyon.
Storms has been candid about needing distance from Los Angeles for personal and health reasons, saying in a June social media post that she couldn’t picture herself comfortably returning to work there. That context makes this exit feel less like a plot twist and more like life catching up with the story.

How GH Wrote Maxie’s Exit
Rather than leave Maxie in limbo, GH gave her departure a real, on-screen sendoff. Cody revealed that Spinelli accepted a major job offer in Australia, and that Maxie, Spinelli, Georgie, Bailey, and Maxie’s son James were all heading Down Under together.
The show also tied up a major loose end this week. On July 22, Michael got a call from Maxie and simply said, “OK, I’m listening,” a moment that set up her decision to sell her Deception Cosmetics shares to him. It’s a fitting final beat for a character so tied to that business.
Kirsten Storms’ Path to Port Charles
Kirsten Storms has been part of General Hospital since 2005, following a run as Belle Black on Days of Our Lives and a starring role in Disney’s Zenon films. Maxie herself has been part of the show even longer, born on screen in 1990 and raised into one of Port Charles’ most enduring characters.
Maxie’s Legacy on General Hospital
The character’s history includes one of the show’s most memorable early storylines, receiving a donor heart from her cousin B.J. Jones after he was rendered brain-dead in a school bus crash. Maxie was born on screen as the daughter of supercouple Frisco Jones and Felicia Scorpio, giving her one of daytime’s deepest legacy pedigrees.
That kind of history is exactly why this exit lands as hard as it does for longtime viewers. Maxie has been a fixture through multiple eras of the show, surviving comas, marriages, and a revolving cast of Port Charles chaos along the way. Losing her, even to a happy ending abroad, changes the shape of the canvas in a real way. GH hasn’t ruled out a future return for Maxie, but for now, the door’s closed on this chapter of Port Charles.
