KRISTINA CORINTHOS-DAVIS DROPS A MED SCHOOL BOMBSHELL AS KATE MANSI EXITS GH

TL;DR: Kate Mansi is leaving General Hospital after three years, and Kristina is exiting Port Charles for medical school. Her emotional goodbye lands as the Davis family is still grieving the loss of Sam McCall.

A Davis Daughter Is Leaving Port Charles

Grab the tissues, GH fans, because Port Charles is about to lose one of its own. Kristina Corinthos-Davis — played by Kate Mansi for the past three years — is packing her bags, and this goodbye is shaping up to be a full-blown tearjerker. After everything this character has survived, watching her walk out of town is going to sting.

The bombshell dropped on May 24, 2026, when multiple outlets confirmed that Mansi had chosen not to renew her three-year General Hospital contract. She finished taping back in April, and her final episodes are set to air in June 2026. In her own words, Mansi made “the very difficult decision to leave,” pointing to fresh projects and the need to travel while her husband produces a series filming abroad. So this is a real-world goodbye, folks, not one of those soapy fake-outs.

Here is the silver lining for heartbroken viewers: executive producer Frank Valentini did not slam the door on his way out — he flung it wide open. “We love Kate and support her decision to leave,” he said, adding that “the door is always open.” Reading between the lines, Kristina is not being killed off, and the show clearly wants an exit it can reverse somewhere down the line. Something tells me this Davis girl has not taken her final bow in Port Charles just yet.

Why Kristina Is Really Saying Goodbye

So how does GH send Kristina packing? With a curveball nobody saw coming. In the May 26 episode, Kristina stunned her half-sister, Molly Lansing-Davis, outside Bobbie’s with a jaw-dropper: she had taken a long shot and gotten accepted into medical school. Cue every viewer in America hitting pause to make sure they heard that right.

The very next day, Molly dragged her back inside Bobbie’s to spill the whole story. Kristina explained that her time in the hospital — after the heartbreaking loss two years ago of the baby girl she carried as a surrogate, conceived with her own egg, for Molly and TJ Ashford — is what lit a fire in her. She studied for the MCAT every chance she got, applied to UCLA, and got in.

“I’m afraid of starting school and not finishing it,” Kristina admitted on May 27. But Molly was not about to let her sister talk herself out of it, insisting that the memory of the baby they lost would carry Kristina all the way to the finish line. Reach for the tissues, because that scene was a gut-punch in the best way.

Now here is where the GH faithful are raising an eyebrow. Reading between the lines, plenty of fans are asking the obvious question: since when does Kristina — who, let’s be honest, never finished college — stroll into medical school? The internet had jokes for days, with one viewer cracking that the writers “spun a wheel of reasons” to ship her out of town. Buy the twist or not, it is how the show is writing Kristina Corinthos-Davis out of Port Charles.

The Tearful Goodbyes — and Loose Ends — Ahead

Kristina Corinthos-Davis does not exit in a vacuum — she leaves behind a trail of unfinished business. Her mother, Alexis Davis, and her father, Sonny Corinthos, are both about to feel the gut-punch, especially with the family still raw from the October 2024 death of her half-sister, Sam McCall. Don’t be surprised if Alexis takes this the hardest of anyone; losing one daughter was unthinkable, and now another one is moving clear across the country.

Then there is her love life — or what is left of it. The will-they-won’t-they spark with returning bad boy Ethan Lovett has cooled into friendship, and Kristina’s one-sided crush on Jacinda Bracken never got off the ground. Like it or not, she is leaving town single, with more than one storyline left frustratingly dangling.

So what does Kristina’s departure mean for the people she is leaving behind? That is the question keeping fans up at night. For now, Kristina Corinthos-Davis is California-bound and chasing a brand-new life — but in soap world, “medical school across the country” is hardly a one-way ticket. If history is any guide, this Davis girl could turn up in Port Charles again right when we least expect it, and we would not have it any other way.

Are you buying Kristina’s med school exit, or do you smell a soapy return down the road? Sound off in the comments and let’s settle this once and for all!

I wish Kate the best in her forth coming endeavors. But am a little sad at the way some fans have not accepted her not signing another contract at this time. Kate has done a good job in making the role her own. But fans should realize actors are people too, and their personal lives may lead them in a direction that counter acts with their professional one. As both personal/professional are parts of what makes the individual whole, fans will be sorry to the lost of the actor. But I feel your personal life fulfillment is the most important between the two. Hope all will wish Kate well and not worry about the role of Kristina being removed from canvas for awhile as roles can be recast but an actors real life cannot always be reset as easily as their reel life. Just my opinion.
