Laura Collins’ Campaign Has Been an ABSOLUTE DISASTER

Let’s talk about everything that’s gone wrong for Laura Collins in this mayoral race on General Hospital. The incumbent mayor started with decent odds, but her campaign has been hit with disaster after disaster. First, Police Commissioner Anna Devane mysteriously vanished right before the crucial mayoral debate, leaving Laura without her most important ally and handing opponent Ezra Boyle perfect attack material.

Then came the polling place incident that might have cost Laura the election. When Henry Dalton showed up specifically to provoke her about grandson Rocco’s legal troubles, Laura LOST IT. With citizens filming on their phones, Dalton accused her of using mayoral power to help Rocco, and Laura’s heated response about using “any power as mayor” that’s “warranted” played right into his hands. The optics are TERRIBLE.

Her brother Martin tried to encourage her by saying her integrity is why voters love her, but when you’re filmed losing your temper at polling places and your grandson gets arrested during debate night, integrity only gets you so far.

Rocco’s Arrest Was the PERFECT Gift to Ezra Boyle

Speaking of Rocco, that situation couldn’t have come at a worse time for Laura’s campaign on General Hospital. Her grandson got caught breaking into Professor Dalton’s lab at PCU, and Dalton demanded his arrest RIGHT in front of everyone at the mayoral debate venue. Ezra Boyle literally smiled when it happened because it was the perfect gift to his campaign.

Laura’s been trying to protect her family while maintaining her integrity as mayor, but Ezra has successfully painted her as someone who uses her position to help her grandson (who happens to be Sonny Corinthos’ grandson, by the way). Laura even told Lulu she was worried about Rocco getting caught in the crossfire of her political battles, and that’s exactly what happened.

Measure C Is Where Things Get REALLY Interesting

But the mayoral race isn’t even the juiciest part of this election on General Hospital. Measure C is the ballot initiative that has villain Jenz Sidwell absolutely OBSESSED. This measure would give him control of the piers directly across from Spoon Island, and Sidwell has made it crystal clear he NEEDS those piers for his criminal operations.

Jordan Ashford advised Sidwell to consider developing different piers as a backup plan, but Sidwell refused. He wants those specific piers because Sonny Corinthos is “a blight on the city that must be stopped.” Sidwell even told his son Marco that if the election doesn’t go their way, they’ll need an “outside-the-box strategy” to move forward. That’s where his new butler Pascal comes in.

The vote is described as “very close,” and Sidwell literally told Laura to her face that “everyone has their price, even her.” This man is prepared to play DIRTY if Measure C doesn’t pass.

OUR PREDICTIONS: Laura Wins But Loses What Matters Most

Here’s what we think will happen on General Hospital when election results drop Wednesday. Laura Collins will NARROWLY win re-election as mayor of Port Charles. Why? Because despite all the drama, Laura has name recognition, decades of service to the city, and voters know Ezra Boyle is a charlatan (Laura’s words, not ours).

BUT here’s the twist: Measure C will PASS. Sidwell will get his piers, giving him exactly what he needs to expand his criminal empire and go after Sonny Corinthos. Laura wins her seat but loses the battle that actually matters. Sidwell gets what he wants, and Port Charles becomes even MORE dangerous.

The real question is whether Laura’s victory will even feel like a win when her grandson is facing legal consequences and a mobster just got handed prime waterfront real estate. Sometimes winning the election means losing everything else.
