Michael Corinthos walked into Carly Spencer‘s kitchen and admitted out loud what he has been plotting since the moment he saw Harrison Chase hand Willow Tait flowers in her congressional office. The plan is simple. Push Chase and Willow into an affair. Wait for the political scandal to detonate. Watch Willow lose her seat in Congress. Use the wreckage to win the custody battle.

Carly heard it and asked the question every viewer at home was screaming at the screen. Why would Michael Corinthos want to destroy Brook Lynn Quartermaine‘s life like this? She is family. She is his friend. She is a brand new mother with a baby in her arms and a husband she actually loves.

The most dangerous part of this entire plan is that Carly Spencer is the only person Michael told. Not Kristina. Not Sonny Corinthos. Not Jacinda Bracken, even though Michael showed up at Crimson and told her separately that he had figured out another way to gain the upper hand. Carly is the only one in Michael’s circle who heard the full plan.

Carly is also a woman currently hiding Valentin Cassadine in her own house from the WSB. Carly is a woman who almost confessed today that she could not lose Valentin too after losing Jason. Carly is a woman who is one bad day away from cracking under everything she is keeping quiet about.

Carly is not going to be able to sit on this. Not when it involves a baby. Not when it involves Brook Lynn. Not when it involves Michael becoming the kind of man who manufactures affairs to win court cases. Carly is going to say something to someone, and that someone is going to be the wrong person, and the entire plan is going to collapse before Chase even gets a chance to choose.

Brook Lynn Quartermaine Is the One Who Pays for All of This

Here is what Michael does not seem to understand. Brook Lynn is not a chess piece. Brook Lynn is a woman who has barely survived the last year of her life. She is hiding a hit-and-run secret. She is trying to adopt baby Phoebe. She is finally, finally, finally happy.

If Michael’s plan works, Brook Lynn loses her husband to Willow Tait in the most public way possible. The political scandal that takes Willow down does not stop at Willow. It scorches Brook Lynn on the way out. Her marriage. Her name. Her chance at adopting Phoebe. Her sense of who she is in this family.

Michael Corinthos did not just decide to fight dirty. He decided to fight dirty using the body of a woman who has done nothing to him.

The Corinthos family has done a lot of damage to a lot of people over the years. This one is going to land differently. Because when this comes out, and it always comes out, Michael is not going to be able to claim he did this for his children. He did this for his pride. He did this because Willow apologized in her office and asked permission for Disney World and made him feel small. He did this because he could.

When Sonny Corinthos finds out his son weaponized a marriage to win a custody case, the conversation in that mob office is going to be one for the history books.
