General Hospital Spoilers: Ric Lansing Dying Just as He Gets Everything He Ever Wanted
A behind-the-scenes GH leak reveals Ric Lansing may be dying from a terminal blood disease just as his life finally comes together. Will he survive?

TL;DR: A behind-the-scenes leak from Soap Dirt claims General Hospital is planning a terminal blood disease storyline for Ric Lansing just as his redemption arc hits its peak. The arc reportedly mirrors Mike Corbin’s devastating Alzheimer’s death and could kick off during May sweeps.
The Cruelest Timing in Soap History
You have got to be kidding me. Ric Lansing finally — FINALLY — has the life he always wanted, and now a leaked source is saying he might be dying? The man survived being tied to a gurney in Alexis Davis‘s basement with a ball gag in his mouth for a month, clawed his way back to respectability, and THIS is what the writers have planned?
I need to be upfront here. This is a leak, not an official spoiler. But the source behind it, reported by Soap Dirt, has a scary-accurate track record on General Hospital scoops. This is the same leaker who revealed Cyrus Renault killed Sam McCall weeks before it aired. They confirmed Liesl Obrecht had a fourth Faison child before Cassius Faison ever showed up on our screens. And the Erika Slezak casting as Monica Quartermaine‘s secret sister Ronnie? Called it. The leaker even checked with multiple sources before dropping this one.
So when Soap Dirt’s source says Ric Lansing is dying of a terminal blood disease, I’m not exactly brushing it off.

Everything He Ever Wanted — Gone
Here’s what makes this so gut-wrenching. Ric Lansing’s redemption isn’t a con. There’s no secret agenda, no nefarious scheme cooking behind those eyes. That kidnapping ordeal broke something loose in him, and what came out the other side was a man who realized that if he dropped dead tomorrow, Molly Lansing-Davis would be the only person at his funeral.
That comment? Probably foreshadowing. And it stings now.
Because Ric has done the work. He rebuilt things with Sonny Corinthos — honestly built a brotherly bond for the first time in their lives. He’s co-parenting peacefully with Alexis. And Elizabeth Webber finally agreed to give him another chance. They’ve been on at least one real date this year, and everything is heading somewhere beautiful.
So of course that’s exactly when General Hospital drops a terminal diagnosis on him.
The Mike Corbin Parallel
Soap Dirt’s source compares this storyline directly to Mike Corbin‘s Alzheimer’s arc, and that comparison is both exciting and terrifying. That storyline gave Maurice Benard some of the most powerful material of his career. Watching Sonny lose his father piece by piece was devastating television. Now imagine Sonny watching his brother die. The brother he just learned how to love.
The leaked diagnosis is reportedly a blood disease — possibly leukemia, lymphoma, or aplastic anemia. It’s expected to kick off during May sweeps and play out over several months, likely through July. That’s a long, slow emotional burn designed to wreck every single one of us.
Should Elizabeth Webber Fans Be Worried?
Here’s the part that has me genuinely concerned. General Hospital is already chemistry testing Liz with Dante Falconeri by throwing them into scenes together. You don’t line up a new pairing unless you’re clearing the runway. And if Ric Lansing dies, Elizabeth loses yet another man she loves on this show.
But there IS a sliver of hope. The leak explicitly states that Rick Hearst is beloved by GH executives. A medical miracle survival is on the table. The higher-ups don’t want to lose him, and frankly, neither do we. Ric Lansing has become one of the most compelling characters on daytime right now, and killing him after this redemption would be a creative crime.
Whether he lives or dies, this storyline is going to put Sonny, Elizabeth, and Molly through absolute hell. And I’ll be watching every single second of it with tissues in hand.
Do you think Ric Lansing will survive, or is this the end of the road? Drop a comment below — we want YOUR prediction on how this plays out!

And, yes, I think she's going to be set up to take the fall, but I don't think she's actually at fault. I think she's going to be the perfect scapegoat for Sidwell! #GH #GeneralHospital ♬ original sound – Soap Opera Magazine

Really hope Ric does not die as revealed in the above post. Hope he and Sonny can continue to build a true brotherly relationship. Like the actor but not his persona as presented in the role. There are times I believe his stint in Alexis’ basement has made him a better person, but then again, this is Ric we are talking about and his history makes one have to wonder just what his true objective is.
