Days Of Our Lives
Steve Burton Reflects on What Could Have Saved General Hospital’s Jason
As Steve Burton prepares to make his return to Days of Our Lives, he reflects on his time as Jason Morgan in General Hospital. Burton had played the character of Jason Quartermaine before transitioning to his role as Jason Morgan, a preppy-turned-hitman. In a conversation with his Days of Our Lives castmate, Wally Kurth, Burton discusses how his General Hospital character changed over time.
When Burton first appeared on General Hospital, Jason Quartermaine was pre-med, and his character had a full head of lush locks. However, Jason’s character changed dramatically, becoming stoic and emotionless. Burton notes that he was able to incorporate more of his personality into his later role as Dylan McAvoy in Young & Restless.
Jason was troubled, Dylan was troubled, and Harris, Burton’s character in Days of Our Lives, is a mix of the two. Harris is a straight arrow who was brainwashed by Megan Hathaway and has been both a bad guy and a good guy. Burton’s on-screen chemistry with leading lady Kristian Alfonso is impressive, and he describes her as having “amazing eyes as an actress.”
Burton admits that there was one thing that could have saved Jason’s character in General Hospital. He reflects that if Jason had received proper medical attention for the injuries he sustained during the car crash that his brother A.J. caused, his character could have been saved. Unfortunately, Jason’s character became increasingly detached, and he ultimately became emotionless.
In Days of Our Lives, Burton’s character Harris is fighting his demons, and fans are eager to see how he develops. With his extensive experience in daytime television, Burton brings a depth of understanding to his characters and is sure to bring an exciting element to his return to Days of Our Lives.
In summary, Steve Burton reflects on his past roles in daytime television and how his characters have developed over time. He notes that there was one thing that could have saved General Hospital’s Jason and expresses excitement about his return to Days of Our Lives as Harris.
