Sorry, Not Sorry! B&B’s Brooke Logan Leaves Hope A Voicemail That’s Really A Love Letter To Herself

BROOKE LOGAN MISSES HOPE BUT STILL WON’T APOLOGIZE

TL;DR: Brooke Logan finally called Hope, and the voicemail was all about Brooke’s pain with not one word of apology, which means the B&B standoff is nowhere near over.

A Voicemail Starring Mostly Brooke

Brooke Logan finally picked up her phone, and naturally the call turned into a solo show. She left Hope Logan a message about how hurt she still is, how much she loves her, and how badly she misses her, and not one syllable about the weeks she spent at a wellness retreat “getting over” what her daughter did. Hope saw her mother’s name light up the screen, looked horrified, and let it ring. Rude? Sure. Historically supported? Absolutely.

The reach-out itself wasn’t a change of heart so much as a change of loneliness. Ridge Forrester nudged her to call, Brooke chewed on it while griping about her sister, and the result was all ache and zero accountability. She wants a medal for dialing. What she should want is a script that includes the words “I was wrong.”

Weeks away, presumably a lot of green juice, and Brooke still came home carrying the argument she packed: everyone else did this to her. Hope is the traitor, Katie Logan is the schemer, and Brooke is the wounded party. The retreat apparently skipped the class on mirrors.

Hope Did Not Betray Anyone, Sweetheart

Hope walked into her aunt’s company because Logan treated her like an asset instead of a decoration. She didn’t run to a stranger or a rival. She went to her own family, into a company that carries her own last name, where she gets to call the shots in the design room. That’s a career move, not a crime. Brooke Logan has spent decades slapping the word “betrayal” on anything that inconveniences her, and this one wins the prize for most inflated.

Look at who’s still working in the office where Brooke gave her speech. Zende Forrester Dominguez keeps announcing that he’s sick of being handed second place, and the fix on offer is a pep talk from Ridge. Hope has already lived that movie. She left before the sequel.

Katie Makes A Very Convenient Villain

According to Brooke, Katie is preying on Hope’s insecurities and angling to replace her as the woman in Hope’s corner. Katie is no saint (she’s busy poaching Zende by any means available), but blaming her is awfully handy. She gave Hope a seat at a table Forrester kept nudging her away from, and that’s the crime Brooke can’t forgive. If Katie is the villain, Brooke never has to consider that Hope left because she was tired of being pushed aside.

Then Brooke stared at her sister and declared her a stranger. Coming from the woman who slept with Katie’s husband, Bill Spencer, more than once, that’s a bold review of who has been unreliable in this family.

Real Grovelling Has A Very Different Sound

Brooke Logan’s version of an apology is a list of her own injuries. Real grovelling sounds like “I made your success about me,” “I vanished when you needed a mother,” and “I’m proud of you.” None of that made it onto the voicemail. Hope isn’t hiding from love, she’s dodging a phone call that is about to ask her to comfort the person who hurt her.

She misses Beth Spencer too, and that’s the one honest reason to dial a phone. If Brooke ever leads with her granddaughter instead of her wounded pride, Hope might actually pick up.
