A Miracle On A Suspiciously Short Schedule
Daphne Rose is being sold a miracle on a schedule that can’t be real. She was told on September 21 that Steffy Forrester‘s eggs were already frozen and a baby could arrive within a year. By October 2, Carter Walton was announcing that the day they’d been dreaming of had arrived. That’s eleven days between a maybe and a done deal, with no screening, no consent forms and no paperwork anywhere we’ve seen.
Who delivered that news? Carter. Not Steffy, not a doctor, not the woman supposedly carrying the baby. He announced it for her, and Steffy’s smile looked painted on with a very small brush.
Carter has been doing the talking from the start. He cut Steffy off every time she tried to speak on September 21, including when she said, “Daphne, there’s something I have to tell you.” A man who interrupts his wife’s best friend that often has a reason.

The Husband Who Keeps Disappearing
Carter has been drinking his way through this plan. On September 23, with Daphne gushing about baby clothes in his office, he opened a flask and spiked his coffee, choking it down. Nobody pours liquor into a cup at work over a happy surprise.
On October 2, when Ridge Forrester asked where Carter was, Daphne had no idea. Her husband goes missing in the middle of a workday and she can’t say where, then he strolls in with Steffy and delivers the big announcement himself. If you were Daphne Rose, wouldn’t that start to itch?
Brooke Logan and Ridge have been no help, since they are busy gushing about what a wonderful father Carter will be and how blessed everyone is. Everyone around Daphne is toasting a surrogate they have never met. Daphne herself has been told to keep the surrogate’s name quiet, because Steffy hasn’t talked to her husband yet.
The Holes In The Story All Have The Same Shape
Daphne was told Steffy hadn’t spoken to Finn, and Carter explained that Steffy wanted to gauge their interest before telling him. Finn, meanwhile, told his wife other women could do this and left believing the issue was dead. A surrogate whose husband objects, a pregnancy announced by somebody else, and a husband who answers for everyone is a story with more gaps than a lace curtain.
Daphne builds fragrances for a living, which means she knows how fast one wrong note ruins the whole bottle. Carter’s story has several, and Daphne has to decide whether her heart lets her smell them.
Daphne even had a doctor’s call coming in on September 22, and Carter told her to share the good news. A doctor who hears about a surrogate with no name, no clinic and no calendar is a doctor who asks questions, and Daphne will be the one stuck answering them. Frozen eggs sound tidy until somebody asks who froze them, where, and when.
The One Person Carter Can’t Charm
Carter has talked Steffy into silence, talked Finn into believing the topic was closed, and talked Ridge and Brooke into celebrating a donor they have never met. Daphne is the one he can’t spin forever, because she has the most to lose and the clearest view of the calendar.
The spoilers hand her the receipts. On Monday, October 5, she’s stunned by Carter’s surprising news. On Tuesday, October 6, she’s asking why she was left in the dark. Could Daphne Rose realize that every gap in Carter’s story has the same outline, and that the outline is Steffy-shaped?
