That is a woman carrying a secret with a very short fuse.

The Room Brooke Was Not Reading

Donna Logan loves her sister. She has always loved Brooke. She has cheered for her marriages, defended her choices, and stood beside her through every catastrophe this family has manufactured over the decades.

But today Donna stood in the Forrester showroom while Brooke Logan went on about how Couture was launching, how Eric Forrester had never worked harder, and how wonderful it was going to be for both of their husbands. Brooke declared that Katie Logan and Logan Designs would not be able to compete. She said Katie needed a miracle. She said it like a punchline: “Katie needs hope, hope and nothing more.”

Donna knows exactly what that sentence means. She knows Hope Logan is at Logan Designs. She knows the collection is dropping. She knows that the miracle Brooke said Katie needed is sitting in her sister’s fashion house right now with a crisis of conscience and a commitment to see it through.

Brooke kept going. She said at least they did not need to worry about Katie poaching from Forrester anymore. She said Hope knows where her future is.

Donna looked uncomfortable. Donna reminded Brooke how marginalized Hope had felt.

That was all she could do.

What Donna Is Actually Carrying

The position Donna Logan is in right now is not a comfortable one. She is not a schemer. She does not have the stomach for long-term deception the way some members of this family do. She loves Brooke and she loves Katie and she loves Hope and she is currently standing in the middle of a secret that puts all three of them on a collision course.

Brooke is going to get blindsided. Not by a stranger. By her daughter. By her sister. By the people she trusts most in this building and outside of it. And Donna has known this was coming and has been holding it with both hands, smiling at Brooke’s confidence, nodding along to predictions she knows are wrong.

Eric has never worked so hard. Couture is launching this week. Brooke is certain the fashion world is ready to confirm everything the Forresters have built. She has no idea that Logan Designs is dropping a collection at almost the same moment, built around the HFTF diamond that Wyatt Spencer had in his jacket pocket, fronted by the daughter Brooke spent this entire week celebrating for coming home.

Donna said as much as she could say. She reminded Brooke that Hope had felt marginalized. She let Brooke talk herself into certainty. And then she changed the subject.

The Moment Donna Cannot Avoid Forever

Here is the problem with Donna Logan’s position. She is not built for this. She is the warmest person in every room she walks into and she is currently the most informed person in a building full of people who will be devastated by information she is sitting on.

Brooke is going to find out about Logan Designs. The collection drops. The diamond appears. Hope’s name is on it. And when Brooke turns to her sister to ask how this happened, Donna is going to have to decide exactly how much she knew and exactly how long she knew it.

The uncomfortable look on Donna’s face today was the look of a woman doing the math on that moment. She loves Brooke too much to want to hurt her. She loves Katie and Hope too much to have stopped them. And she is standing exactly in between, holding information that is going to change every relationship in this family the moment it comes out.

Donna Logan has been biting her tongue all week. She cannot bite it forever.
