The show’s explanation is that Electra used to pick up Hayes from Dylan’s art classes, creating a connection! But why not call the police FIRST?!
Dylan got a new phone number to “avoid the press,” which is interesting because how was the press bothering her if nobody knew she was the driver yet?! She ignored all of Electra’s texts for weeks because she “wasn’t ready to talk!” Girl, you allegedly killed someone—being “not ready” isn’t an option when there’s a DEAD BODY!
And the confession itself? Dylan showed up with coffee like this is a casual catch-up, told Electra she misses their coffee dates, and THEN dropped the murder confession! Let’s talk about the theory that’s got fans SPIRALING: What if Dylan didn’t actually kill Luna, and she’s confessing to protect someone else?! What if someone PAID her to take the fall, or blackmailed her, or convinced her this was the only way?!

Can we talk about how Electra’s response to Dylan’s confession was “We will get through this together. You don’t have to carry this burden alone”?! Excuse me, WHAT?! Electra just volunteered to help Dylan “carry this burden,” and that sounds like obstruction of justice!
Electra barely knows Dylan! They’re “friends” because Electra used to pick up Hayes from art class? That’s not the kind of friendship that typically involves covering for vehicular homicide! And yet Electra immediately promised to stand by Dylan, assured her she doesn’t have to face this alone, and brought Will into the situation!
Then Electra, Will, and Dylan all went to Steffy and Finn’s cliff house so Dylan could confess directly to Finn! The whole scene was framed as this emotional moment where Dylan tearfully apologized and Finn—who has been bottling up complicated feelings about Luna—graciously forgave her and they even HUGGED!
Finn told Dylan she’s “a good person” and that she can “still build a beautiful life” despite accidentally killing someone! He forgave her immediately and assured her that Will and Electra will support her! The entire Finnegan family basically gave Dylan their blessing and moved on!

The whole thing feels rushed and anticlimactic, which makes fans suspect there’s more to the story! Some viewers are convinced Luna faked her death! The fact that we never saw a body, never saw the crime scene, never got confirmation beyond Baker’s word—it all points to this being a setup!
