As Thorsten Kaye celebrates 10 years of portraying Ridge on the Bold & Beautiful, the actor shares his thoughts on the character’s journey, relationships, and potential future storylines in an exclusive interview.

Kaye observes that Ridge’s priorities have shifted over time, saying, “As he gets older, family means so much more to him than maybe it did when he was younger.” He acknowledges that Ridge’s ability to love multiple women simultaneously is both a strength and weakness for the character.

Despite Ridge’s impulsive tendencies, Kaye believes they have often worked in his favor. He explains, “When he married Caroline [in 2015], it seemed impulsive, and it was, but when it was good, it was good. If you have a quick start, sometimes you finish first and sometimes you get disqualified. That’s just the way the game goes. But I don’t see that changing anytime soon.”

The actor points to Ridge’s father, Eric (John McCook), as the closest family member and emphasizes the importance of their on-screen connection. He directly quotes Kaye, “What Ridge feels for Eric is exactly how I feel about John. When Ridge grows up, he can only hope to be as good a man as his father.”

Regarding Ridge’s love interests, Kaye teases that the answer to the love of his life or the one that got away could be revealed in the current storyline. He also envisions Eric as the go-to person for Ridge’s advice, describing the character as wise and selfless.

Kaye discusses potential future storylines involving Ridge. He is intrigued by the possibility of exploring a father-son dynamic with R.J. if the character returns, and delving deeper into Ridge’s relationship with Douglas. Praising his chemistry with Henry Joseph Samiri (Douglas), Kaye says, “He’s a very good actor. I can’t wait to see where he’ll be in 20 years.”

Reflecting on memorable moments playing Ridge, Kaye highlights the happiness of witnessing Steffy’s recovery and the pain of not being there to protect her during her darkest times. He also expresses pride in the transgender storyline featuring Karla Mosley (Maya) and Rick, which he considers a powerful love story.

As for Ridge’s future, Kaye would like to see the character “quit Forrester Creations and do something totally on his own and totally out of character.” However, he emphasizes that the best aspect of playing Ridge has been the opportunity to work with the incredible cast and crew on the Bold & Beautiful, led by executive producer/head writer Brad Bell.
