The Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Wednesday’s Episode, September 16 (9866)

She turned him down. Anyone who saw pre-air chatter promising Steffy Forrester would fold got the opposite. Carter Walton laid the whole thing out and she refused it flat.

The pitch was worse than expected. Carter wants Steffy to go to Daphne Rose and volunteer as the egg donor, with herself as the surrogate. When Steffy pointed out she cannot be their surrogate because she is already pregnant, he answered, “Exactly.” She told him he was asking her to lie to Finn and to Daphne. He said they are already lying.

Steffy shredded it on logistics first. She will be showing before they ever convince Daphne, and there is the small matter of a due date that does not add up. Carter took the point and used it, saying that is exactly why they have to start now.

Then she went at the real thing. He is asking her to carry her own baby, love it, and hand it over. “I can’t do that!”

He offered to make her the godmother. She was not interested in a consolation prize and said they have to tell the truth, which is when Carter snapped back, “And lose everything?!” She reminded him Finn will want to meet the fertility doctor, then said the line that landed hardest: she has been through something like this before. Her answer was no, she is telling Finn, and he should focus on his wife and his marriage.

So Carter stopped asking her. He went back to Forrester, watched his wife work, kissed her, and when Daphne repeated that she wishes the donor could be someone they know, he said maybe it could happen that way and told her to ask Steffy. Who better, he said, to bring their child into the world. Steffy ended the hour alone at the cliff house with her hand on her belly, hearing Finn’s voice saying no more secrets, sobbing into the sofa.

Two other things happened worth marking. Daphne told Ridge Forrester and Taylor Hayes she hates the idea of a stranger, and they talked her into accepting it. And in Finn’s office, Li Finnegan mentioned that Daphne nearly left Carter, then asked out loud whether that was around the time everyone was in Monaco. Nobody put anything together. The line was still said.

Thursday, September 17th (Episode 9867):
Daphne cannot believe Carter’s suggestion. Published previews now confirm the shape of it: Carter tells his wife he wants Steffy to carry their baby, and Daphne is left stunned. She is being handed exactly the trusted face she asked for by the one man who knows why it is a lie. Li airs.

Friday, September 18th (Episode 9868):
Steffy is caught off guard and Finn turns to Taylor for support. CBS does not say what blindsides her, though after Wednesday the obvious candidate is Daphne walking up and asking her directly. Steffy already said no to Carter. Saying no to Daphne’s face is a different thing entirely.

The Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Earlier This Week (September 14-15)

Monday was the reveal. Steffy told Carter the baby is his and that there is zero chance it belongs to Finn, because before Monaco he had been working late and the two of them had not been together. She wanted to tell her husband that day. Carter asked for time.

Tuesday she nearly did it. She got as far as telling Finn there was something he needed to know, and Carter reached the cliff house before she could finish, then made his first version of the proposal. Earlier that week she had taken two positive tests, on the 10th and the 11th, and told Carter on the 11th. That is the whole clock: five days from test to cover-up.

The Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Next Week (September 21-25, 2026)

The day by day breakdown for that week still has not posted anywhere, so nothing here is confirmed. Circulating chatter has Steffy eventually agreeing and signing paperwork, a cooperative doctor being found, Will committing to Dylan, and Sheila Carter working on Deacon Sharpe. Treat all of it as guesswork. Steffy said no on Wednesday, and no outlet has an aired scene showing her change her mind.

Our prediction is that Daphne is the one who breaks her. Carter asking is a man protecting himself. Daphne asking is her best friend, who cannot have children, asking for the only thing she wants. That is a much harder no, and it is why Carter made the handoff.

Viewers are split and loud. The biggest complaint is that this is Steffy’s third pregnancy hinging on a paternity answer, after Kelly and after Hayes, and a lot of people are calling it recycled. The sharper counter argument is that the pair were drunk enough on August 18 that the encounter may never have been completed. There is real praise this week too, most of it for the writing of Steffy’s refusal.

She Has Given Up a Baby Before, and the Show Knows It
That one line of Steffy’s carries more weight than anything else in the episode. In 2019 she adopted a baby girl and named her Phoebe, and that child was Beth, stolen from Hope Logan and Liam Spencer at birth and sold to her without her knowledge. Liam worked it out at the end of July, Hope and Liam had their daughter back on August 6, and Steffy was told and had to hand the little girl over on August 8. She raised that baby for months believing she was hers. Carter just asked her to do it again on purpose.

Nobody Has Tested Anything
Steffy named Carter on Monday and repeated it Wednesday, and she is certain. She is also working entirely from her own memory of who she was and was not with in August. No test has been ordered, no doctor has been seen, no due date exists on screen, and Finn has not been excluded from anything. Wednesday was the first time medical logistics even came up, and only as her objection to the scheme. Trade reporting has it that the network has confirmed the baby is Carter’s, which tells you where the writers are headed, not what the script has proven.

It Did Not Happen in Monaco
Monaco is where Finn hid the fact that Sheila had followed him, and where Steffy took off her wedding ring and flew home alone.
