Abby Is Drowning, and Devon Doesn’t See It
Abby Newman told Ashley the truth she’s been sitting on for weeks: Devon Winters‘ anger hasn’t leveled off since Dominic’s kidnapping, it’s gotten worse, and she’s the only one still standing close enough to feel the heat of it. He lied to Ashley’s face about being fine. Abby didn’t correct him. She’s stopped believing him and stopped saying so out loud, and nobody else in the family has noticed what that silence is costing her.
That’s what dejected actually looks like when you’re married to it. Not one bad night, a slow erosion, the kind where you start rehearsing what to say to your husband before you say it, so nothing sets him off. Abby is alone in that marriage even when Devon’s sitting right across from her.

Devon’s too consumed by his own rage to notice his wife is disappearing right next to him, and that kind of neglect always leaves an opening. Daniel Romalotti is about to walk right through it: “You look like you could use a friend. Settle for me?” is the line he’s set to deliver to Abby Newman at Society, and after everything Devon’s put her through, it lands exactly the way it’s meant to.
That offer alone would be enough to notice. Abby’s spent months being the strong one, absorbing Devon’s silence without complaint, and Daniel’s the first person to ask nothing of her in return. That kind of comfort doesn’t stay platonic once a marriage has already gone this quiet.
The Affair We Think Is Coming
We don’t think this stays a slow build. Abby Newman isn’t the type to sit in longing glances for months, and Daniel’s never been shy about wanting more than friendship. Our read is a wild, reckless little affair, the kind neither of them plans and neither of them stops once it starts, stolen time that feels like the only honest thing in Abby’s life right now.
That’s exactly the kind of affair that gets sloppy fast. Two people this hungry for each other stop watching the door, and Devon Winters has never needed much of an invitation to walk through one uninvited. He’s already suspicious of everyone around him, and it wouldn’t take much for that suspicion to finally land on the right one.
The Night We Think Devon Catches Them
Here’s our theory for how it goes wrong. Devon walks in on Abby and Daniel mid-affair, no warning, nothing to explain away. This isn’t a man who yells and storms out. He’s spent this entire storyline swallowing rage that’s had nowhere to go, and suddenly it has a target standing right in front of him.
We think he loses it completely. He lashes out at Daniel first, a shove, a fist, whatever’s closest, and Abby throws herself into the middle of it trying to pull her husband back from the edge he’s already gone over.
He Doesn’t Mean to Kill Her, But He Does
This is the part that would blow Genoa City wide open. Our theory isn’t that Devon turns on Abby Newman directly. He’s swinging at Daniel, blind with rage, and Abby’s the one who gets caught in it when she steps between them. One accidental blow, one bad angle, and the woman who spent months absorbing his silence ends up the one who doesn’t survive it. Devon never meant to kill his wife. In our theory, he does it anyway.
