Abby Newman should have full custody. Devon should find somewhere else to live. The Chancellor Estate, where Abby, Devon, and Dominic currently reside, belongs to a chapter of Abby’s life that Devon was invited into as a supporting player and has been treating as a starring role ever since.

The most recent evidence for why this conversation is overdue arrived when Devon filed legal paperwork to review Mariah’s plea deal without telling Abby first. Devon genuinely believed he was acting on a shared position. Abby’s response was clear and immediate. We did not decide this together.

That sentence is doing a lot of work. We did not decide this together is not just about one piece of paperwork. It is about years of Devon making decisions in a space he was invited into for a very specific and very limited purpose and treating that invitation as unlimited authority.

She has been trying to hold that family together ever since, while Devon keeps expanding his footprint in a space he was specifically and deliberately invited into for one purpose.

That promotion can stop anytime.

Devon is not a bad man. We have said that before, and we mean it. He is a man who genuinely believes he is doing the right thing in every situation, including the situations where he absolutely is not. That sincerity does not give him the authority he has been quietly accumulating.

Devon Winters was a sperm donor. Abby Newman is a mother. Those are not the same thing, and Genoa City needs to stop treating them like they are.
