For a while, the change felt real. Billy threw himself into wedding plans and nursery shopping, swearing up and down that Sally and their child would come before any boardroom. Longtime viewers who have watched him torch one romance after another let themselves hope. That hope is about to be tested in the cruelest way possible, and the person holding the lit match happens to be his own mother.

Jill Abbott (Lauren Koslow) is sweeping back into town, and she is not arriving empty handed. The Abbott matriarch has spent years keeping the peace between her son and Cane, the man she treats like a son even though no blood ties the two of them together. Now she wants Billy to accept that Cane is running the company he covets, and she is hauling both men to the table whether they like it or not.

Here is the part other outlets are glossing over. Jill is being played for a short run by Lauren Koslow, who is stepping in for Jess Walton across five episodes that began June 25. The day-ahead scripts have her landing on Billy and Cane as a surprise visitor, then forcing the pair to settle their feud across the June 29 and June 30 episodes. The show’s head writer has said on the record that Jill is guarding a secret she cannot afford for Billy Abbott to uncover, and if you have been following the latest scoop out of Genoa City, you already know a secret like that never stays sealed.

What Happens to Billy and Sally on Young and the Restless This Week?

The answer is not pretty. According to the July 1 day-ahead, Billy sabotages Sally‘s latest venture, the kind of move that detonates trust in a single afternoon. He will not be charging in unopposed. Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) owns Chancellor and personally handed Cane the keys, which means an attack on Cane is an attack on her. Expect the two of them to close ranks fast, giving fans a united front to rally behind while Billy swings the wrecking ball. It is the cleanest hero versus villain setup Y&R has served up in months.

Do not be surprised if Jill‘s secret turns out to be the one thing capable of stopping Billy Abbott in his tracks, or the very thing that shoves him past the point of no return. Either way, the wedding that was supposed to define the summer may not survive the boardroom. Sally deserves so much better, and somewhere deep down, Billy knows it too.
