Cane Ashby Forgives Phyllis Summers and Hatches a Plan

Nobody saw this coming. Cane Ashby is on a train leaving a voicemail for the woman who stole his company, his leverage, and his power play, and he’s not calling to threaten her. He’s calling to forgive her. He admires her survival instinct. He’s sorry he let her down. He acknowledges that his actions forced her hand. And he hopes they can continue the personal part of their relationship.

Let that sink in. The man Phyllis Summers double-crossed is extending an olive branch on The Young and the Restlesswhile simultaneously plotting something that involves her own son. Because when Daniel Romalotti shows up on that train, Cane wastes no time. He needs Phyllis to sign the company back over to Victor so Lily Winters and the kids will be free. Daniel says his mother flew to Milan on the Newman jet to convince Summer to come back, and he’s done trying to reason with her. Cane pushes harder, invoking Lily’s safety, and Daniel tells him that’s a low blow.

But Cane isn’t finished. He says he has an idea for how they can save Phyllis from herself, and he needs Daniel’s help to pull it off. What that plan is, we don’t know yet. But Cane Ashby just positioned himself as the one man willing to fight for Phyllis even after she burned him, and he’s recruiting her own son to do it.

Billy Abbott Explodes Over the Boarding School Bomb

At Society, Billy Abbott is unloading on Jack Abbott about Victoria shipping their kids to boarding school behind his back. Jack isn’t exactly sympathetic, telling his brother he shouldn’t be surprised. But Billy isn’t hearing it. When Victoria walks in with Nate Hastings, Billy charges straight at her. “How dare you take my kids away from me!”

Victoria insists it’s in the children’s best interests and she wants to protect them from what’s coming. Billy calls it revenge. He accuses her of being as bad as the rest of her family. Nate tries to intervene and gets snapped at for his trouble. Billy refuses to sign the paperwork.

They take the fight outside, where it gets uglier. Victoria demands Billy convince Phyllis to sign things back to Victor. He refuses. She threatens to call the school and play for sympathy, reminding him how much Newman money has been donated. Billy fires back that she never tried to send the kids away when Victor was ruining his life, so this isn’t about protection. It’s about knocking him down a few pegs. Victoria doesn’t deny it.

Back inside, Jack and Nate agree Victoria will likely win. Jack admits he’s happy about Victor’s fall but feels terrible for Nikki. Nate says he’s been struck by how short life is and hopes Billy realizes that. When Jack asks if Nate has been reconnecting with Victoria, Nate says he’s put romance on the back burner. Victoria joins them for a drink and tells Jack she knows what she’s doing.

Claire Newman Walks Away From Holden Novak

In LA, Claire Newman meets Holden Novak at a restaurant and gets right to the point. She can’t think about anything serious between them until she knows the whole truth. She’s found out that the art dealer Holden and Audra Charles ripped off has disappeared, and she wants to know if they had something to do with it.

Holden deflects. He says the art dealer wasn’t a nice guy and had enemies. Claire pushes back, telling him the thing she likes least about him is that he came to town as a fake. She admits she has no patience for people who don’t live truthfully and she only knows him superficially. Her gut tells her she’s not getting the full story, and until that feeling goes away, they need to stop seeing each other. She walks out.

Is Cane Ashby playing the long game or does he actually care about Phyllis? We need to hear what side you’re on. Sound off and share this with every Y&R fan!
