Chelsea Lawson has become the human version of a screensaver. She and Adam Newman are living together on the Newman compound, and the most thrilling thing about the arrangement is the commute. The two of them have been through enough reboots to qualify as a used car lot.

Chelsea somehow landed a spot as a bridesmaid in Sally Spectra‘s wedding, even after she cheated with Adam behind Sally’s back. That should be a recipe for fireworks. Instead, Chelsea sat across the room and watched Adam feel Sally’s baby kick, and she didn’t say a word.

Her one big swing at the bachelorette party was embroidery. Audra Charles shot it down as granny chic before the idea even hit the table, and honestly, Audra was right.

A Truce Is Not a Storyline

Audra told Chelsea exactly what she thought of her, and she made it clear she plans to hold that grudge forever. Then the two women agreed to smile and get along for Sally’s sake. That’s the whole arc. Two women deciding to be polite is what happens at a PTA meeting, not on a soap opera.

Audra has a reason to be angry. She watched Sally cry over what Chelsea and Adam did. Chelsea has a reason to fight back.

Instead, the writers gave them a handshake and a seating chart. Where is the woman who used to scheme her way through Genoa City?

Adam and Chelsea Are Running on Fumes

There was a time when Adam and Chelsea had real heat, and fans couldn’t look away. That was several versions of Adam ago. These days, Adam frets about his brother, Chelsea tells him there’s only so much he can do, and the scene ends. Riveting.

Chelsea Lawson keeps getting paired with men instead of being handed a story of her own, and fans have noticed. She’s been boring with Billy Abbott, and she’s boring all over again with Adam. Pouring more airtime into this couple is like putting new tires on a car with no engine. How many times can one couple restart before the show admits it isn’t working?

Pack a Bag, Chelsea: Anita Is Waiting in Minnesota

Here’s the solution nobody at the ranch wants to hear. Chelsea needs to go visit her mother, Anita Lawson, in Minnesota, and she needs to stay a while. A long while.

Long enough to see a Minnesota winter, and maybe the spring thaw too. Minnesota has lakes, hotdish, and real snow, which is more personality than Chelsea’s storyline has had all year.

Distance would do wonders for everyone. Sally gets a wedding without side-eye, Audra gets her bridesmaid lineup back, and Adam gets a chance to figure out whether he misses her. Could a little time away even give the writers a chance to bring Chelsea Lawson back with a real story? Fans would happily take that trade.
