DARIUS MCCRARY IS SITTING IN SAN DIEGO JAIL ON FEDERAL CHARGES

TL;DR: Young and the Restless alum Darius McCrary was arrested near the U.S.-Mexico border in California on Sunday and is currently being held in a San Diego jail on an out-of-state felony charge. According to his representative, the warrant stems from a missed court appearance related to child support.

The Arrest

Darius McCrary, best known for his role on “Family Matters” and his appearance as Malcolm Winters on The Young and the Restless, was arrested Sunday by the United States Border Patrol near the California-Mexico border, according to TMZ. Online records indicate this is classified as a “fugitive arrest,” with the section of the California Penal Code listed applying to individuals in California who are wanted by another state for a serious crime.

McCrary‘s representative, Ann Barlow, confirmed to TMZ that the warrant out of Michigan for his arrest stems from a missed court appearance related to his failure to pay child support.

Previous Child Support Issues

This marks the third time McCrary has been arrested for allegedly failing to pay child support. He was previously arrested in 2015 and again in 2023 on similar charges.

McCrary was previously married to Tammy Brawner, and the couple finalized their contentious divorce in 2019 after a two-year legal battle. One of the terms of their divorce required Darius to pay Tammy $1,366 per month in child support.

However, sources close to Tammy told TMZ that this recent arrest has no connection to their child support agreement, suggesting the warrant relates to a different matter.

McCrary’s Entertainment Career

Darius McCrary gained widespread fame playing Eddie Winslow on the beloved sitcom “Family Matters,” which ran from 1989 to 1998. He later appeared on The Young and the Restless and has had various roles in film and television throughout his career.

McCrary is currently being held in a San Diego jail as he awaits extradition proceedings related to the Michigan warrant.
