Lily Winters Summons Drucilla’s Ghost in Phyllis Summers’ Office
Lily Winters does not raise her voice often. She does not invoke her dead mother often either. Tuesday she does both, and honey, the temperature drops about fifteen degrees in Phyllis Summers‘ office the second she walks through the door.
Lily orders her to clear Cane Ashby‘s name on the Newman takeover. Phyllis, naturally, laughs. Phyllis Summers laughing in the face of a Winters woman demanding justice is the most Phyllis Summers thing Phyllis Summers has ever done, and she has done a lot of Phyllis Summers things.
Then Lily Winters cocks her head and tells her she is about to channel every ounce of hatred her mother Drucilla had for her and aim it directly at her. Drucilla. The woman who pushed Phyllis off a cliff. The woman whose name has been gathering dust in Lily’s mouth for years. THAT Drucilla. Phyllis stops laughing. We sit straight up. The writers know exactly what they did and they should be very proud of themselves because this is the first time in a long time that Lily Winters has tapped into a power that scary, and frankly the show owes us more of it.

Lily Brings Cookies to the Man She Refuses to Call Her Ex
Earlier in the day, Lily stops by Cane’s office, where she catches him staring at a framed photo of her on his desk like a Victorian widower with a locket. He tells her he is using it to “visualize her presence” in his life. Sir. SIR. We are going to need you to put the photo down and step away from the shrine.
She hands him a tin of homemade cookies as thanks for being a bone marrow match for her father. Cane tells her he would do anything for her. They rehash the entire Arabesque saga, the Phyllis betrayal, Victor’s revenge, the downward spiral, and how building that company let Cane heal his relationship with his own father before Victor ripped it away again. He says it felt like losing his dad twice. We feel it. We are also unionizing for a Cane Ashby therapy storyline because this man is one framed photo away from a full breakdown.
Patty Williams Finds a Memory-Less Matt Clark at Crimson Lights
Billy Abbott bumps into Patty Williams at Crimson Lights and immediately tells her his brother is never giving her a second chance. Patty tells him her time in the “loony bin” taught her patience. Reader, when a Williams family member starts quoting their own time in psychiatric care as a self-improvement journey, RUN.
Billy Abbott tells her she is delusional and to leave town. The second he stomps out, Matt Clark strolls in. Of course he does. Patty Williams, the town’s most famous obsessive, locks eyes with Matt Clark, the town’s current most dangerous amnesiac, and proceeds to bond over how nobody understands them. He tells her people seem to think he has done bad things and he cannot remember any of it. She suggests they can help each other.
A psychopath and an amnesiac sociopath team-up. This show is FEEDING us. Mark Tuesday, May 12 on the calendar as the day Genoa City lost.
Sally Spectra and Diane Jenkins Have a Genuine Heart-to-Heart at Society
Diane Jenkins congratulates Sally Spectra on her engagement to Billy and asks to see the ring. They sit. They chat. Sally admits she is holding onto fear from her past, sometimes feels like she does not deserve good things, and gently suggests Diane might want to re-evaluate whether falling for Jack again was a mistake. Diane insists she does not feel responsible for what Jack did, which is one of those sentences you say out loud to convince yourself it is true.
Then Billy Abbott walks in and dumps the Patty news on the table. He warns Diane that Patty might be coming for Jack and asks if she really wants to let Patty win. Three women’s worth of unspoken Jack Abbott opinions hovering over the salad. Iconic.
Nikki Newman and Jack Abbott Have a Lunch That Diane Walks Straight Into
Over at the GCAC, Nikki Newman finds Jack Abbott staring into the middle distance and joins him. They eat salad. They commiserate about their spouses. Nikki misses Victor and her home, Jack misses Diane and his life, and Jack starts telling Nikki this could be the beginning of a new chapter for her. He urges her not to compromise with Victor anymore.
Then Diane Jenkins walks in and clocks them. Two lonely spouses, one intimate lunch, one Diane in the doorway. Y&R writers, you sneaky little geniuses. This is going to take forty-five episodes to explain and Diane is going to be unreasonable about every one of them and we will be watching.
Holden Pops Into Cane’s Office and We Get a Reminder About Time
Holden Novak stops by to tell Cane that he and a friend are jetting off to New York and that it means a lot that Cane is stepping up for Malcolm. Cane tells him it is an honor. Holden calls the whole situation surreal. Cane urges him to spend as much time with Malcolm Winters as he can and waste no time.
Y&R quietly nailing a scene between two men who barely know each other but are about to be tied together by one of daytime’s most beloved characters. No drama. No twists. Just two people agreeing that life is short. We are unwell.
Whose side are you on with the Diane and Nikki GCAC moment? Innocent salad or the start of something Victor and Diane will both regret? Sound off below because we need to hear it!
