Tessa Goes to Bat for the Woman Who Destroyed Her Life
Monday’s episode opens at the Chancellor mansion, and Tessa is doing something that would make most women’s heads explode. She is standing in front of Devon and Abby defending Mariah. The woman who kidnapped their son. The woman who blew up her own marriage. The woman Tessa has not even spoken to since the arraignment.
Mariah is not evil, Tessa tells them. She is sick.
Abby is not hearing it. She wants to know why the Boston clinic let Mariah walk out the door, and then she drops the question that sucks all the air out of the room. Is Tessa worried about Aria now that Mariah Copeland is not in police custody? Tessa had not even considered it. And the look on her face when it lands is devastating.

The Confession Sharon Never Saw Coming
Across town, Sharon has locked Crimson Lights and flipped the sign to closed. Christine Blair lays out the terms. Mariah is out on bail, wearing an ankle monitor, released into Sharon’s custody. The plea is not guilty by reason of mental illness.
Mariah Copeland wants no part of it. She wants to go back to the judge and plead guilty. She knew what she was doing, planned every step, and refuses to hide behind a defense that pretends she did not choose this.
Then she finally says out loud, to the people who matter most, what we have been watching play out for weeks on The Young and the Restless. The drinking. Pushing Tessa away. The man on the work trip who reminded her of Ian Ward. The Boston clinic. The hallucinations of Ian coaching her through every moment of taking Dominic.
Sharon and Christine are hearing all of this for the first time. And while we already know the ugly truth, watching a mother learn her daughter has been taking orders from a dead man hits completely different.
Then Tessa walks in and the energy shifts. She does not hate Mariah. She hates what Mariah did. When Mariah asks about Aria, Tessa glows. Their daughter is perfect, strong, hitting every milestone. Everything a mother aches to hear. And Mariah Copeland missed all of it.
So what does Mariah do? The same thing she always does when she decides she does not deserve love. She pushes Tessa away. Says she deserves better. Deserves peace.
Tessa is not buying it. She tells Mariah that honesty used to mean something between them, and Mariah does not get to make this decision for her. Tessa is leaving on her own terms. Not because Mariah told her to.
She walks out crying. And that is when everything gets interesting.
Daniel Romalotti Is Right There Waiting
At the GCAC, Danny is pressing Daniel about where things stand with Tessa. Daniel admits what they have is special, but Mariah needs help now and Tessa wants to be there for her. Danny pushes. Is he afraid Tessa will let Mariah back in? Daniel does not answer. His silence says plenty.
Christine arrives and Daniel slips out. Danny tells her point blank that his son has fallen in love.
Over at Society on The Young and the Restless, Daniel finds Tessa sobbing and pulls her into his arms. The Mariah chapter may be closing. This one is wide open.
Mariah Knocks on the One Door That Should Stay Closed
Back at the mansion, Devon cannot reach Lily and the worry is creeping in. Abby has nothing left in the tank. She is trying to understand what Mariah did, but the rage keeps winning. Mariah took their child, made Dominic call her mommy, and Abby does not know if forgiveness is something she is capable of.
Then there is a knock. Sharon. And Mariah Copeland.
Abby fires back that their son is upstairs and if he hears Mariah’s voice, the damage could be irreparable.
Mariah apologizes. Says Dominic was never in danger. Says she knows how much he loves his parents. Hopes one day they can forgive her.
Abby is not interested in one day. It was not one mistake. It was one after another after another. She had their boy and could have picked up a phone at any point.
Then Abby delivers the final word. She tells Mariah to leave. And to never come near her son ever again.
WATCH THIS: Forget Mariah! Will Billy ever learn his lesson?
@soapoperamag I genuinely don't think Billy thought this through… He was so focused on getting Chancellor that he didn't stop to think about what Victoria would do once he crossed her. And now? She's going STRAIGHT to the kids. This is about to get ugly. #YR ♬ original sound – Soap Opera Magazine
