MELISSA CLAIRE EGAN HAS AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE AND EVERY WOMAN NEEDS TO HEAR IT

TL;DR: The Young and the Restless star Melissa Claire Egan revealed she was diagnosed with coronary heart disease in late January 2026, and she is sharing her story because it could save your life.

The News Nobody Saw Coming

Melissa Claire Egan plays Chelsea Lawson on The Young and the Restless and she just shared something that stopped us cold. In late January she was diagnosed with coronary heart disease. She is going to be okay. Early detection and medication caught it in time. But she is not sharing this for sympathy and she made that very clear. She is sharing it because she wants every woman reading it to do something about their own heart health before it is too late.

Her doctor found plaque in her LAD artery through a heart calcium scan after some bloodwork came back concerning. The LAD artery is called the widow maker. She is 44 years old. The diagnosis is rare for someone her age and appears to be genetic. Without catching it when they did, a fatal heart attack or stroke was a real possibility at any point over the next several years. Maybe sooner.

She Did Not Have to Share This

Melissa describes herself as a private person and we believe her. Which is exactly why this post hit so hard. She said that the night of her diagnosis she lay with her sons at bedtime feeling grateful to God and her doctors and she could not stop thinking about every other woman out there who might have this same condition and have no idea. That is why she spoke up. That is the whole reason. And we are so glad she did.

Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women. One in three deaths every year. It is undertested and underrecognized and most women do not find out until it is too late. Melissa wants you to ask your doctor specifically for Lipoprotein(a) and ApoB levels in your bloodwork. She wants you to ask about a heart calcium scan. These are not things doctors automatically order. You have to ask. Now you know to ask. Read more about her story and coronary heart disease right here.

We Are So Glad She Is Okay

Chelsea Lawson has survived more than most characters in Genoa City and it turns out the woman behind her is every bit as strong. We are sending Melissa all the love in the world. Please share this with every woman in your life. Getting your heart checked could save your life.

Sending so much love to Melissa Claire Egan. Share this with every woman you know who needs to hear it.
