TL;DR: On Wednesday’s episode of The Young and the Restless, Matt Clark walks into Adam Newman’s Vegas hotel room and announces that Nick Newman overdosed and is dead. Chelsea Lawson is already there and the room erupts. Meanwhile, Sally Spectra secretly has Audra Charles bring her a pregnancy test while Billy Abbott plays nurse with no clue what’s really going on, and Devon Winters goes to war against Mariah Copeland with a legal petition that could send her to prison.

Say It Ain’t So!
Matt Clark does not knock. He does not ease into it. He shows up at Adam Newman‘s Vegas hotel room with Riza in tow, smiles at Chelsea Lawson like he is meeting her at a cocktail party, and then drops six words that stop the room cold: “Nick Newman is dead.”
He says Nick Newman overdosed this morning. He says it calmly. He says it like he is reading a weather report. And the fact that Matt Clark is the one delivering this news is exactly why nobody in that room should believe a single syllable of it.
Chelsea got to Vegas because her instincts told her something was wrong. She was right. Adam had been keeping her in the dark about Nick’s disappearance, about Riza, about all of it. When she showed up at his door, he had no choice but to come clean. He told her Nick insisted on meeting Riza’s partner “Ronnie” first and then vanished. He told her Nick has been erratic since his surgery. He told her what he has been afraid to say out loud: he thinks his brother is hooked on opioids.
Chelsea dares Matt to come closer so she can spit on him. That woman came to Vegas to find her family and instead she got a death announcement from a con artist in a hotel hallway.
Adam demands answers. Matt offers none. And the question now is whether Nick Newman is actually dead or whether Matt Clark is running the cruelest bluff of his miserable life. Because if there is one man on this show who would lie about a death to gain leverage, it is the man standing in that doorway smiling.

Sally Spectra Is Hiding a Pregnancy Test From Billy Abbott
Sally Spectra has been sick. Billy Abbott thinks it is a cold. He has been making her tea, feeding her soup, canceling their London trip, and volunteering to spoon feed her like she is recovering from the plague. He has no idea what is actually going on.
Sally knows. Or at least she suspects. The second Billy leaves the room, she texts Audra Charles and asks for a favor. When Audra arrives, she hands Sally a pregnancy test and Sally takes a deep breath.
Billy is still in the apartment. He is still fussing. He is still completely oblivious. Sally keeps nudging him toward the door, toward London, toward literally anywhere that is not here while she figures out whether her entire life is about to change. Billy thinks she is trying to get rid of him because she is independent. She is trying to get rid of him because she is terrified.
Devon Winters Wants Mariah Copeland in Prison
Devon Winters has filed a petition to have Mariah Copeland‘s plea vacated. He wants the case reopened. He wants felony charges back on the table. And he did it without telling his wife.
Abby Newman is furious. She thought they agreed hospitalization was the right path. Devon thinks Mariah will sweet talk the doctors and walk free. They go back and forth at Society until neither one of them is listening to the other anymore.
Sharon Newman and Christine Blair arrive to plead their case. Sharon tells Abby that from one mother to another, prison will destroy Mariah for good. Christine explains the legal reality: if the plea is vacated, Mariah could be looking at real time.
Devon walks away. He does not want to hear it. He is a father who watched his son get taken and he is not interested in mercy right now. Whether that makes him right or wrong is exactly the kind of question this show is not going to answer for you.
