Patty Sinks a Blade Into Jack With a Kiss
Buckle up, because this one ends in blood. All day at the Abbott estate, Patty Williams has been throwing herself at Jack Abbott, robe barely on, purring about destiny, bullet scars, and being the first and future Mrs. Abbott. Jack shoves her off at every turn, refusing to fake desire he does not feel, even as she dangles Diane’s safety like a knife over his head.
When Jack finally reveals his checkmate, that Kyle has already reached Diane and the two are on their way home, Patty’s fantasy detonates. He shows her the text he sent from her own phone, gloating that his plan worked. Patty Williams, gutted, warns that this is a sad, sad moment, and that he has sentenced Diane to death.
Jack thinks he has won. He runs downstairs for a celebratory drink, tells Kyle he will burn everything Patty ever touched, and turns around to find her still there, glaring, wounded, unhinged. She tells him he broke her heart again. Then she kisses him.
And drives a blade straight into his stomach. As Jack reels, Patty Williams promises they will be together forever in the afterlife, the ultimate if-I-can’t-have-you nightmare made real. It is the most chilling thing she has done yet, and Jack may not live to regret underestimating her.
Diane Doses Her Captor and Finally Breaks Free
Across town, Diane Jenkins is done being a prisoner. Staring through the barred windows and cursing Laurence Markham, she is mid-scheme when a window shatters and Kyle Abbott comes crashing in to rescue her. He bought off the guard dogs with all the beef he could carry, but every exit is locked, so escape will take more than muscle.
When Laurence returns, Diane sends Kyle into hiding and slips back into her doting-captive act, cooing about what a brilliant professional he is and insisting she is taking care of him tonight. She pours him a drink, talks transference and feelings, then leaves him alone with a plate of canapes he has no idea are laced.
The trap springs beautifully. Laurence admits he has real feelings for her and leans in for a kiss, right as the sedative hits and the room starts to spin. Diane reveals she drugged him, calls Kyle out of hiding, and watches the doctor crumple to the floor. She scoops up his enormous ring of keys, and freedom is finally, gloriously within reach.
Diane Answers the Phone Call That Dooms Jack
Here is the gut-punch that ties both nightmares together. As Laurence lies unconscious, his phone rings, and Diane sees it is Patty. She answers, and the sound of Diane’s voice on that line is the exact moment Patty Williams’ rage boils over back at the estate.
Patty hurls the phone, realizing the plan has collapsed and Diane has slipped the leash. Jack, thinking the danger has passed, gets on the line with his wife to confirm she and Kyle are escaping, then makes the fatal mistake of believing Patty has actually left the house. She has not.
Meanwhile Diane and Kyle hit the road, and in the car she confesses how much she missed her son and how close she came to breaking. When Kyle asks whether they are headed home or to the club, Diane admits the truth she can no longer outrun: she never stopped loving Jack. If only she knew what Patty was doing to him at that very moment.
