PAUL WILLIAMS HAS ALWAYS SAVED PATTY WILLIAMS. IS HE COMING HOME NOW?

TL;DR: Patty Williams is behind bars for attempted murder, and the theory going around is whether her brother Paul Williams finally comes home to deal with the fallout.

What Aired

Patty Williams’s reign of terror hit its breaking point this week. After stalking Jack Abbott at the hospital with a syringe, she was interrupted mid-attempt and fled the room, setting off a frantic chase through the hospital stairwell. Diane Jenkins caught up to her in the basement, and the two grappled before Patty plunged the syringe into Diane’s neck instead. Diane was rushed into treatment for a digitalis injection, while Patty was tackled and cuffed on the spot.

By the next episode, Jack was awake and demanding answers, learning from Kyle that Patty had come “to finish him off and almost succeeded.” Diane, now stable, arrived to reconcile with Jack, while Patty was hauled out of the building smirking and vowing the two of them “will meet again.” She’s officially in custody, and with charges this severe, a return to a state institution looks like her permanent address for the foreseeable future.

Where Paul Williams Might Come In

Here’s where things get interesting for longtime viewers. Patty’s most reliable visitor, protector, and voice of reason has always been her brother. Time and again, when Patty spirals, Paul Williams is the one who shows up: to talk her down, to investigate on her behalf, to sit across from her in a hospital room and remind her who she used to be. Genoa City has weathered plenty of Williams family chaos, but it has almost never weathered it without Paul steering the aftermath.

So here’s the theory: with Patty facing the most serious charges of her entire history, could this finally pull Paul Williams back to town? He’s the one person who’s spent decades untangling her messes, and this might be the biggest mess yet. A courtroom appearance, a plea for leniency, a brutal sibling confrontation through prison glass; all of it writes itself if Paul Williams walks back through that precinct door.

It’s not a small ask for the character, either. Paul Williams has been the Genoa City institution fans have missed the longest, and there’s a reason his name still lights up every casting wishlist. If any storyline was built to bring him home, it’s this one.

FAMILY TIES OR FOREVER GONE?

Does Patty’s arrest justify bringing Paul Williams back into the fold, or has too much time passed for that reunion to land? And if he does show up, should he be fighting for his sister’s freedom or finally admitting she needs to stay locked up? Tell us where you land on our Facebook page.

GIVE US BACK PAUL!

@soapoperamag GIVE US BACK PAUL! Genoa City is lawless right now and they need THE BIG GUNS. Enough flighty cops. Enough with having no detectives. IT'S TIME TO BRING BACK PAUL WILLIAMS. Whatever beef Y&R has with Doug Davidson MUST end. Genoa City NEEDS Paul. Patty-Cakes NEEDS Paul. And we THE FANS deserve Paul! #YoungandtheRestless #BringBackPaulWilliams ♬ original sound – Soap Opera Magazine
