This Show Has Never Needed Much of an Excuse

Genoa City has put characters through less and still managed to write in a complication or two. After losing one baby already, watching Sally get run through the wringer again while carrying this one is genuinely nerve-wracking to watch, and the show has not exactly earned the benefit of the doubt when it comes to letting its couples have easy pregnancies.

Fans Want Sally Happy, Simply Not Like This

Here is the uncomfortable truth nobody wants to say out loud. A lot of fans do not actually want this baby to be Billy’s. It is not personal against Billy exactly; it is more that Sally and Adam’s story feels unfinished to a huge chunk of this fandom, and every scene of Sally building a life with Billy instead reads like a detour from the pairing people were actually rooting for. Audra Charles getting pulled into whatever Sally is planning only adds another layer, because it suggests Sally herself might not be as settled into this engagement as she is letting on.

None of that means fans want Sally hurt. Quite the opposite. Everyone remembers exactly how hard losing Ava hit, and nobody is asking for a repeat of that pain to prove a point about who Sally should end up with. But there is a real tension in wanting her happy while also hoping this specific chapter does not end the way it started, with a baby, a loss, and a relationship that never quite felt like the endgame.

What Sally Actually Deserves Here

Sally Spectra deserves a storyline where she gets to keep her baby and still end up exactly where the fans have wanted her all along, and right now the show has not given anyone a reason to believe both of those things can happen at once. The writers control that outcome, and so far they have given fans plenty of reasons to worry and very few reasons to relax.

Sally has been through enough loss already, and if this show puts her through it again to eventually pair her with Adam, that is a cruel way to get there. She deserves happiness that does not come wrapped in tragedy first. Whether that happiness ends up being with Billy or someone else entirely, Sally Spectra has earned the right to keep this baby, whoever the father turns out to be by the time this story is finished.
