Can Victoria Newman and Cane Ashby Just Make Out Already Because This Sexual Tension Is Unbearable on Y&R
Victoria Newman vowed to destroy Cane. Cane is tearing apart her family’s empire. They’re enemies. So why does every scene feel like foreplay?
THEY’RE SUPPOSED TO BE ENEMIES BUT THEY’RE GIVING ENEMIES-TO-LOVERS AND WE’RE NOT MAD
TL;DR: Victoria Newman wants to destroy Cane. Cane wants to destroy Newman. They’re circling each other like two people who either want to kill each other or kiss each other and honestly on The Young and the Restless we can’t tell the difference anymore.
This Is Not How Enemies Act
We need to address the elephant in the room on The Young and the Restless, and that elephant is the absolutely unhinged amount of energy between Victoria Newman and Cane Ashby. These two are supposed to be mortal enemies. He’s trying to destroy her family empire. She’s vowed to take him down. They should hate each other.
So why does every interaction feel like the opening scene of a romance novel where the CEO falls for the rival businessman she’s supposed to be destroying?
Victoria declared she would crush Cane and anyone helping him. She said she refuses to let him take down the Newman empire “even if it means destroying Cane.” She’s talked about him more than she’s talked about her actual love life. She’s OBSESSED. And we’re starting to think it’s not just about business.

The Spoilers Are Not Helping
Thursday’s spoilers literally say Victoria is going to “hit Cane where it hurts.” Now, that COULD mean she’s going to expose something damaging about him or sabotage his plans. But the way this show has been writing their dynamic? We’re half expecting her to hit him where it hurts by showing up at his train car in a stunning dress and making him question every choice he’s ever made.
Because yes, Cane lives in a TRAIN CAR, which is either incredibly weird or incredibly romantic depending on how you look at it. And Victoria Newman — heiress, powerhouse, queen of corporate warfare — has been spending an awful lot of mental energy on a man who lives in a renovated locomotive. That’s not normal enemy behavior. That’s “I think about you at inappropriate times” behavior.
The History Is There For Victoria Newman and Cane Ashby
Let’s not forget that Victoria and Cane have history in Genoa City. They’ve orbited each other for years. They’ve been on opposite sides before. They even kissed once when Lily was in jail. And now here they are again — older, more powerful, more dangerous, and apparently incapable of being in the same storyline without the temperature rising.
Victoria is fresh off her complicated situation with… well, every man she’s ever been involved with. Cane is clearly still carrying baggage from Lily, since he literally compared Sally to her during their conversation. These are two wounded people who process their emotions through corporate warfare and dramatic declarations. You know what that means? TENSION. Delicious, unresolved, “are they going to fight or make out” tension.
Even Phyllis Sees It
When Phyllis — PHYLLIS — showed up at Cane’s train car and questioned his decision to offer Billy Chancellor, she wasn’t just being strategic. She was being territorial. “Cane, what have you done?” she asked, like a woman who suddenly realized her business partner might have other interests.
And Sally? Sally went to Cane’s train car to confront him about Billy, and Cane offered her PASTRIES. Who offers pastries to their enemy’s girlfriend? Someone who’s comfortable having women in his space. Someone who’s charming even when he shouldn’t be. Someone who Victoria Newman is absolutely going to end up alone with at some point because that’s how this show works.
They Need to Get It Over With
Here’s what we think is going to happen: Victoria is going to march over to that train car to “destroy” Cane. They’re going to have an explosive confrontation. She’s going to tell him exactly what she thinks of him. He’s going to match her energy. And then either they’re going to try to kill each other or someone is going to grab someone else’s face and we’re all going to scream at our televisions.
Because this? This simmering, seething, “I want to ruin your life but also why are you looking at me like that” energy? It’s not sustainable. Something’s going to snap. And when it does, we’re going to be RIGHT HERE saying we called it.
Victoria and Cane. Enemies. Rivals. Future hookup that destroys both their lives and gives us the best content of 2026.
