Young and the Restless Recap September 29, 2026: Nikki Newman and Diane Jenkins Order Lunch With a Side of Claws

THIS YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS RECAP SHARPENS EVERY CLAW

TL;DR: This Young and the Restless Recap catches Nikki Newman and Diane Jenkins squaring off over more than cosmetics, Jack Abbott offering Nick Newman a helping hand, Phyllis Summers shopping for Cane Ashby’s empire, and Christine Blair getting under Phyllis’s skin.

Nikki and Diane Draw Blood

The morning started innocently enough at the ranch, where Nikki Newman caught Victor Newman hanging up the phone a little too quickly. Naturally, she assumed he was scheming. Victor insisted his scheming might be the nice kind this time and begged her not to spoil a surprise. On Young and the Restless, a Newman man asking for trust before noon is a genre all its own.

By lunchtime, the surprise was the least of Nikki’s worries. Diane Jenkins spotted her at Society and couldn’t resist needling her about Vibrante, and Nikki shot back that her little company is already running ahead of its timeline. Diane then took a swipe at her for leaning on Jack Abbott for business advice, and Nikki fired off the diagnosis: Diane can smell success coming and it scares her. Diane countered that nobody outranks Jabot, the industry’s gold standard, and that Vibrante is a total unknown. Bold words from a woman who has been plotting an entire counter-campaign against a brand nobody’s heard of.

Then the gloves came all the way off. Nikki pegged Diane as jealous of her bond with Jack. Diane, in turn, accused Nikki of chipping away at her marriage every chance she gets, suspecting Nikki has never believed she deserves him. Nikki called her insecure and swore she’s only ever wanted good things for her, a claim roughly as believable as Diane’s sudden devotion to minding her own business. When they circled back to the brands, Nikki confessed she adores being underestimated. Diane’s parting warning? She knows how to protect what belongs to her. Nikki heard it loud and clear, and she’s fairly sure Diane wasn’t talking about lipstick.

Nikki hurried home, where Victor finally revealed his surprise: a necklace bearing an oversized V and a crown, anointing her the queen of the cosmetics world. He told her it was a symbol of how gifted she is in his eyes, and Nikki admitted she’s never been hungrier to win. She also filled him in on Diane’s lunchtime ambush. Telling Victor Newman that someone upset his wife is the soap equivalent of lighting a fuse and walking away.

Meanwhile, Diane stormed back to the Abbott estate and unloaded on Jack, insisting Nikki has declared war and practically drawing up battle plans on the spot. Jack, ever the diplomat, pushed for a ceasefire, and Diane suddenly announced the whole thing was nothing and she’d tune out Nikki’s chatter. Jack praised her wisdom. Somebody hide the good china.

Jack Makes Nick an Offer

Over at Crimson Lights, a newly back-to-work Nick Newman picked up when Jack phoned. Jack wanted to hear how the road back to real life was treating him, and the two set a lunch date. Back at the Abbott estate, Jack told Diane he intended to volunteer as Nick’s sponsor. Diane worried that being around Nick’s recovery could stir up Jack’s own cravings, but Jack explained that guiding someone else is part of what keeps him sober. Her next question was pure Diane: how would Victor take it?

Over lunch at the GCAC, the two men swapped hard-won insight about addiction, and then Nick shared how much he loves being back on the job. Jack offered to sponsor him, and they both acknowledged the Mustache would hate the idea with his whole mustache. Nick wants to handle his recovery on his own terms, but he promised Jack would be his first call whenever he needs guidance. Given the family he was born into, that may be a very busy phone line.

The two also found time to bond over how exhausting Phyllis Summers can be, though Jack admitted she had his back when he needed someone most, and that debt stays on the books.

Phyllis Goes Shopping

Earlier, Victor had given Nikki the headline of the day: Matt Clark has left town permanently, with Patty Williamsriding shotgun, and Victor and Nick warned him that a return trip would be his last. Nikki wondered how Phyllis was coping, and Victor figured she was cooking up some catastrophe at that very moment. Close, Victor. She was at the GCAC trying to buy it.

Phyllis offered Cane Ashby a premium price for his real estate, arguing they’d be hers already if he hadn’t shuffled them out of her reach ahead of the AI attack. When Cane asked what she was really after, she delivered a rousing speech about growth and claimed she treasures the buildings for their history. Cane looked about as convinced as a man being sold his own house. Before he could answer her second pitch, Nick wandered in and Cane made a swift exit.

Nick marched over for an explanation, and Phyllis sprang to her feet to swear it was purely business, nothing sinister. Nick said he wants her to find fulfillment and apologized for making her feel judged. Phyllis fired back that Matt was the one who made her feel worthy and loved, and all of them chased him away. Nick confirmed Matt is gone, then revealed Matt had asked them to let her try again. Phyllis doubted anyone would, so Nick pointed her toward Arabesque, and she informed him he should be thrilled she’s following his advice. The details of her grand plan? Top secret. The pair were still arguing over whether Cane could be trusted when Jack walked up, and Phyllis took her leave.

Once Jack left, Cane drifted back in, and Nick warned him to keep his distance from Phyllis. Cane made it clear he wants no part of her, adding that she’s the one doing the hunting here, not him.

Christine Blair Rattles Phyllis

At The Shadow Room, Christine Blair dropped by to collect Danny Romalotti, who was running late, and ended up chatting with Daniel Romalotti. Daniel confessed he’s scared his mom might do something rash and filled her in on Phyllis flirting with the idea of leaving with Matt. Christine admitted she’d throw a parade if Phyllis skipped town. Still, she knows how much Daniel loves his mother.

Daniel vented that his mom is profoundly self-centered and seemingly incapable of growth, and that even if she did leave, she’d boomerang right back. They agreed Phyllis’s worst enemy is Phyllis. Daniel still loves and misses her. He’s done excusing her behavior. Christine acknowledged he’s offered his mom endless chances and assured him Phyllis loves her kids more than anything. Then Daniel slipped away to sign for a delivery, leaving the two women alone. What could go wrong?

Phyllis breezed in, visibly displeased to find her old nemesis, and immediately ribbed her for day drinking solo. Christine suggested Phyllis try actually talking to her son sometime, explained she was waiting on Danny and gushed about how blissful they are. Phyllis was floored to learn Danny is part owner of the club. When Daniel returned, Christine couldn’t help pointing out that he accepted his father’s job offer after rejecting so many offers from his mother. Then Danny sent her a string of hearts and flowers, she answered with something considerably spicier, and she swept out the door.

Phyllis dismissed the whole encounter as absurd and wanted to know why her son hadn’t stood up for her. Daniel answered with a hug and told her he was happy she was there. That was all it took. Phyllis vowed to stay, rebuild her bonds with everyone who loves her and prove she belongs here, capping it off with a declaration that she’s claiming the whole city. Cane may want to check his locks.
