Y&R’s Puzzling Gaps: Sharon’s Breakdown Exposes Missed Storytelling Opportunities
Sharon Newman’s erratic behavior on Y&R raises questions about missed storytelling opportunities, including Lily’s absence and Faith’s thwarted attempt to support Lucy.

Another Missed Opportunity: Lily Seeing Sharon
Did the Young & the Restless writers forget that they wrote Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) into buying a condo in the same building that Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) lived in when they were still dating & where she still does? When Daniel cheated on Lily with his ex Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom) there was no doubt going to be awkward encounters in the hallways, except there was not. Now again, this soap opera has missed another opportunity. Why wouldn’t Lily run into Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) during one of her visits to Daniel’s? These last 2 trips to Daniel’s weren’t her first. Even if the script were written for Dead Cameron Kirsten (Linden Ashby) to coach Sharon Newman to wordsmith her way out of running into Lily, it would have provided entertainment value on Young & the Restless.
Faith’s Compassion Meets Sharon’s Resistance
Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster) could not be more worried about her mother Sharon. Faith has been through so much & now she’s part of Sharon’s juxtaposed care team made up of her, her father Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), & her sister Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes). Yet again Faith woke up to her mother being out of the house at a weird time without reason. Faith is now putting herself in Lucy’s shoes after learning her mother Heather Stevens tragically died. Faith wants to reach out to Lucy to be there for her & to listen to her after the loss of her mother. Sure, a serious friendship wasn’t the best fit for Faith & Lucy, but they have hung out, survived a car accident together, & both are sweet girls. Sharon not supporting Faith in supporting Lucy is a huge red flag.
What’s Next for Sharon?
As Sharon’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic and dangerous, what will Nick Newman think when he learns about these recent developments? How long can Sharon keep up this charade before someone catches on to her actions?

I agree, missed story telling and additions opportunities missed, and more obvious than ever that the current writers of YR do not have the ability to conceive, structure, nor carry through with decent storyline – definitely not the quality we longtime fans expect from OUR The Young and the Restless. We don’t want our “show” going the way of so many others in the last decade 😢. Please, CBS, Please, get a handle on this and get talented writers in support of Y&R. ❤️
