Nick Newman Walks Into the Ranch With a Confession and Bruised Knuckles

This Y&R Canadian Day-Ahead catches Nick Newman arriving at the ranch fully aware that his family thinks he’s teetering on the orbit of relapse. Nikki Newman is relieved to see him, and he assures her and Victor Newman he’s still clean. Then Adam Newman arrives and asks if Nick has talked to the police, dropping the detail that Detective Burrows has his number and is actively looking for him. Cue cop cars at the gate, and Victor ordering everyone to say Nick isn’t home.

Cornered by his own family, Nick finally comes clean: he arranged a meeting with his old dealer, Joe, and gave Burrows a heads-up himself before things got heated. He holds up his bruised knuckles as proof of exactly how heated. He explains he pushed Joe into admitting he sold drugs to Marie Kirkland, and then Joe bolted, and so did Nick. Victor isn’t buying the clean exit, certain there’s more to the story than his son is sharing. Once Nick leaves, the family is left wondering out loud whether Joe is even still walking around.

Did Nick really let Joe go, or is there more to that confrontation than bruised knuckles can explain? Email your theories to amber@soapoperamagazine.com. We want the darkest ones.

Nick Newman Makes a Promise He May Not Be Able to Keep

Later, Nick meets Burrows at Crimson Lights and sticks to his story: he tried to get Joe to stay put, but Joe ran, after bragging about selling to Marie. Burrows tells Nick police will handle it from here and warns him, point blank, not to take matters into his own hands. The second Burrows walks out the door, Nick’s mind drifts straight back to beating Joe unconscious in an alley. So much for letting the professionals handle it.

Victoria Newman Can’t Escape the Guilt, Even in Her Sleep

Over at the secret apartment, Victoria Newman is napping in the danger zone when a dream turns Victor into the one knocking at the door, shaming her for sneaking around with “that Abbott idiot” while her brother spirals. She wakes up to find it was only a nightmare, and Kyle Abbott is the one actually there, surprised she stayed the whole night. She brushes off his concern until he presses her to talk, and she finally admits how terrified she is for Nick. This feels different from every worry she’s had about her mom, she tells him, because her brother has become someone she doesn’t recognize.

Kyle opens up about living with his own father’s addiction and insists Nick is “a beast in the best way,” urging her to take things one day at a time. Victoria still can’t shake the fear that Nick has nowhere to put all that rage, and she breaks down crying at the thought of losing him. Kyle can’t promise the future, but reminds her that her brother is smart and surrounded by people who love him, and that her faith is exactly what Nick needs right now.

The GCAC Crowd Gears Up for a Wedding With a Side of Drama

Across town, Chelsea Lawson and Adam worry together about Nick, split between fearing a relapse and fearing something far more dangerous: a jail cell. Adam suspects his brother is chasing an entirely different kind of high, one that traces all the way back to Noah Newman’s accident. Chelsea worries Adam feels responsible for saving everyone, and he heads off to check on Nick, bumping into Sally Spectra on his way out to ask about being Chelsea’s wedding plus-one. The baby picks that moment to kick, and Adam gets to feel it firsthand, cracking jokes about a future “ginger soccer star.”

Sally and Chelsea settle into easy wedding talk, and Audra Charles swoops in to claim her territory as official bachelorette planner. She and Chelsea trade barbs over old grudges, Audra reminding her exactly why she’s even part of the wedding party in the first place, before the tension dissolves into custom clutch ideas and a group hand-hold from Sally. Nothing says sisterhood like planning a party with someone who still holds a grudge.

Is Nick walking a line he can’t come back from, and how long before the rest of Genoa City finds out what really happened in that alley? Sound off in the comments below.
