Nick just went through a traumatic accident. He had surgery. He’s recovering. And now he’s dealing with Phyllis choosing Cane over her own family, Matt Clark terrorizing everyone he loves, and the weight of holding the Newmans together while his body is broken.

That’s a LOT of pain. Physical AND emotional. And those little pills make both kinds go away.

Let’s break down what’s happening with Nick Newman right now. He’s injured and in constant pain. He’s hobbling around on crutches trying to protect his family. He’s exhausted. He’s stressed. And the only thing giving him relief? Those pain pills.

He’s not sleeping. He’s running himself ragged confronting Phyllis and dealing with the Matt Clark aftermath. He told Summer on the phone that he’s “fine” and “taking care of himself” but we saw him grimacing and reaching for that pill bottle.

Let’s be real. Joshua Morrow has been playing Nick Newman for over 30 years and the man can ACT. Giving him an addiction storyline would let him flex those dramatic muscles in a way we haven’t seen in a while.

We’ve watched Nick be the hero. The protector. The good son. Now imagine watching him fall. Imagine the scenes with Victor trying to intervene. Imagine Sharon recognizing the signs. Imagine Summer coming home to find her father a shell of who he used to be.

The DRAMA. The ANGST. The Emmy reel!
