At the specialist’s office, Nikki Newman sits beside Victoria Newman for a sentence no Newman matriarch wants to hear. The scans show a mass pressing on her optic nerve, the culprit behind every headache and every blurry moment she has been waving off for weeks. Left untreated, it could take her sight entirely. Surgery is no easy out either, because of where it sits, the procedure itself could cost her vision. The odds are ugly, and for once this Genoa City legend has no comeback ready.

Back in her suite, the woman who has stared down Victor Newman, the bottle, and half the town finally meets something she cannot bully into submission. Victoria vows to have Nate review the scans and begs her mother to chase every second opinion on the board. Nikki stares out the window and wonders aloud how a person lives a life without sight. It is the kind of quiet that lands harder than any scream in this family’s playbook.

Then comes the part that will have you hollering at the screen. When Victoria reaches for the phone to call Victor, Nikki Newman shuts it down cold. No pity, no forced concern, no letting that man see her as anything less than bulletproof.

She makes Victoria promise to keep the whole thing locked between them, which in this town is roughly as airtight as a screen door on a submarine.

Claire Springs a Brunch Trap on Grandpa

Across town, Claire Newman is running her own operation, and bless her, she is not even subtle about it. She corners Victor for brunch at the GCAC under the cover of business talk, all wide eyes and publishing dreams now that the family has the company back. Victor smells the setup before the bread basket even lands.

He guesses she invited Nikki Newman too, and Claire does not bother denying it. She thinks her grandparents need to get over themselves, kiss, and make up. Victor tells her life is not poetry, these two are not riding off into any sunset together. Then Claire drops the thing she actually came to drop: Nikki Newman went to the doctor about those headaches.

So much for keeping it between mother and daughter. The Mustache now has a thread to pull, and we all know he pulls.

Patty Plays House While Jack Plots

Over at the Abbott estate, Patty Williams has turned hostage negotiation into a brunch spread. Quiche, muffins, mimosas, a rearranged work calendar she booked with his assistant, the whole domestic fantasy. Jack Abbott wakes up furious, snaps that letting her move in was a mistake, and gets reminded that backing out means he cannot vouch for Diane’s safety. He caves and chokes down a muffin.

When he asks about a meeting with Diane’s doctor, Patty actually delivers, the man is coming to the house. Jack quietly texts Kyle to come tail the doctor on his way out, because of course he does.

Laurence Markham arrives and stonewalls beautifully. Diane is decompressing from her trauma, Diane does not want Jack to know where she is, and confidentiality means his lips are sealed. When Jack pokes at whether Patty is actually cured, the good doctor swears she is as sane as Jack himself, then glides out the door.

Patty takes that as proof she is healed, ready for love, and fully prepared to be the next Mrs. Abbott. Jack looks like a man who swallowed the lemon curd whole.

Diane Decides to Beat Laurence at His Own Game

And what of the woman at the center of all this? Diane Jenkins is locked in Laurence’s house, still trying to crack the password on his phone and coming up empty. He breezes in from a jog, denies her a little fresh air, and offers the basement gym instead, which is exactly the kind of generosity that comes with a deadbolt.

Then he hands her gold without knowing it. He is a Gemini, he says. “The twins,” Diane murmurs, filing that away. She purrs that they are fated, that maybe he is the one meant to save her.

The second he leaves, the mask drops. Diane decides the only way out of this gilded cage is to play the player, perform every ounce of readiness to “heal,” and ride his ego straight back to her family.

By the time he comes home, she is all in, thanking him for the journey they are about to take. Run, Laurence. You have no idea who you locked up.
