At Genoa City Police Department, Diane Jenkins swears up and down that she would never lay a finger on the man she fought so hard to win back, but Detective Burrows isn’t buying comfort stories today. Diane Jenkins insists Laurence Markham held her against her will and that drugging him was the only way out alive, yet Patty Williams is playing victim so beautifully she deserves a trophy. Patty coos with relief the second she hears Jack Abbott survived surgery, then pivots straight into her tidy little tale about a mental breakdown and a very convenient rescue. Burrows isn’t swallowing that either, but the physical evidence is doing Patty’s dirty work for her.

Michael Baldwin steps in to represent Diane and quickly realizes the deck is stacked against his client. There’s no blood on her hands, defensive wounds line her arms, the knife carries no prints, and Laurence backs Patty’s version without blinking. Michael warns Diane Jenkins that bail may not be in the cards given how high profile this case has become, and for a woman desperate to get back to her husband’s bedside, that’s the cruelest twist yet.

Down the hall, Laurence tells detectives he only ever wanted to keep Diane Jenkins safe inside his private clinic, though the sedatives he admits giving her tell a very different story. Patty listens for a confession that never comes and instead gets stuck answering why she moved into the Abbott mansion the second Diane vanished. At the hospital, Kyle Abbott refuses to leave his father’s side, cracking jokes about impressing Harrison with a battle scar while quietly begging Jack Abbott to open his eyes and name his attacker. Billy Abbott arrives with the update that there’s internal bleeding but no organ damage, plus the unsettling detail that Patty tried framing Diane for the whole bloody mess. Traci Abbott breaks down blaming herself for ever leaving her brother alone with Patty, then rallies the room by reminiscing about waking him up as kids, willing him back to consciousness through pure sisterly stubbornness.

Diane arrives fresh off her release and settles beside Jack, promising their love is worth fighting through every ugly complication still unresolved between them. She needs him conscious, and she needs him talking, because right now Patty and Laurence are the only two people controlling the narrative.

Sally hopes Jill’s truly forgiven her for confessing to Billy that she was the mystery investor, and Jill insists the secret is ancient history now. Talk turns to Cane Ashby dangling a job at Chancellor in front of Billy, with Jill privately doubting her son could stomach not being top dog, and Sally wondering aloud if Jill’s hesitation hides something else entirely. Sally finally breaks the real headline: Jack is in the hospital, and suddenly wedding gossip feels very small.

A Homecoming at the Newman Ranch

Back at the ranch, Victor Newman gets his daughter’s update that Nikki Newman is being discharged, her vitals strong even if her eyesight remains a question mark. Victoria Newman pushes her father to let her mother recover under his roof, banking on the property being big enough for two exes to coexist peacefully. Claire Newman arrives thrilled to help pamper her grandmother, and once Nicholas Newman confirms discharge is underway, the whole family circles Nikki on the couch, smothering her the second she’s settled. Nikki begs everyone to stop hovering, certain their love alone will pull her through, while Victor manages only a sad, silent nod that says he’s not nearly as certain as she is.
