The Young and the Restless
Young and the Restless Recap September 9, 2026: Nick Newman Bets His Sobriety on a Woman Who Might Never Come Back
Nick’s therapist warns he can’t fix people and walks away in this Young and the Restless Recap that leaves his sobriety hanging by a thread.
IN THIS YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS RECAP, NICK NEWMAN ADMITS THE REAL REASON HE PUT HIS FREEDOM ON THE LINE FOR MARIE KIRKLAND
In this Young and the Restless Recap, Nick Newman gets brutally honest about why he risked everything for a woman he barely knows, Victoria Newman finally gets her mother back in the boardroom, and Adam Newman and Chelsea Lawson go to war over their son’s next move.
Nick Newman Can’t Stop Hoping
Grab your coffee, because this Young and the Restless episode opens with a lecture nobody asked for! Michael Baldwin marches into rehab to tell Nick Newman exactly how close he came to trading his freedom for a woman he met five minutes ago. Bold strategy, Nick.
Here’s the good news buried in all that scolding: Marie Kirkland walked away with zero charges, and Christine Blair is already building the self-defense case that could clear her for good. But Nick doesn’t care about his own legal exposure one bit, and that should worry everybody in the room.
Why? Because he can’t stop replaying the guilt written all over Marie’s face, and something about it made him slam the brakes on his own recovery to catch her instead. Michael isn’t buying the math. Neither are we, honestly.
By his afternoon meeting, Nick Newman’s STILL stuck on Marie Kirkland, confessing to the group that wanting to save her briefly beat out wanting a pill. His therapist calls that exactly what it is, reminding him he can’t fix other people the way he fixes cars, and then she simply walks away. That’s the kind of gut-punch this Young and the Restless Recap does best!

Victoria Newman Gets Her Mother Back
Over at Society, Victoria Newman makes her mother an offer too juicy to pass up: full control of Vibrante, zero interference, and a truce in the Jabot feud Victoria started for Kyle Abbott’s benefit in the first place. Nikki Newmansays yes on the spot, and Victoria could not look more thrilled.
The celebration doesn’t last five minutes. At Jabot, Jack Abbott and Diane Jenkins can’t figure out why their son still wants in on a PR war that was supposedly dead, until Kyle finally admits the real target was never Vibrante at all: it’s Victor Newman!
Jack thinks Nikki taking the reins is the best news he’s heard all week, which sends Diane into a fresh spiral about whose team her husband is even on. When Nikki and Victoria show up unannounced to make peace official, Diane accuses them of raiding Jabot’s expertise to relaunch a company Jabot will now have to fight for survival against, and honestly? She’s not wrong.
Once the social media battle is officially dead, Kyle steps into the elevator and instantly relives every second of a motel night with Victoria that absolutely nobody in that building knows about lately. Genoa City secrets have a shelf life, and this one already smells like trouble.
Adam Newman and Chelsea Lawson Clash Over Their Son
Adam Newman drops a bombshell on Chelsea Lawson at the GCAC: their son wants to transfer to a therapeutic boarding school with a killer baseball program. Oh, and the school needs an answer by end of day. No pressure!
Chelsea’s mind jumps straight to the worst possible read, convinced every time their son reaches for something bigger, it’s really him trying to run from her. Adam frames it as ambition, not abandonment, but Chelsea isn’t signing off on anything until their son says it to her face.
At the bar, Adam can’t shake the memory of picking Sally over his own baby, so naturally he redirects every ounce of that guilt onto Billy Abbott instead. Chelsea calls out the deflection immediately, but Adam can’t resist one more jab, insisting Billy could win an award for how completely he misses the obvious.
Nearby, Sally Spectra tells Billy point-blank that Adam can’t touch their happiness unless they let him, and Billy reluctantly agrees to stop rising to it. It’s the calmest anyone in this love pentagon has sounded in weeks, which in Genoa City usually means the storm is still loading!

The Countdown Clock Nobody Can Stop
Nick Newman is playing a dangerous game, betting his own sobriety milestones on a woman who might vanish from Genoa City the second the paperwork clears, and Chelsea Lawson isn’t wrong to be terrified her family keeps finding reasons to scatter. Victoria Newman finally has her mother exactly where she wants her, but putting Nikki that close to Kyle and Diane’s orbit feels less like a victory lap and more like a countdown clock.
