He is standing in the Forrester showroom dreading the moment he has to tell his wife that another woman is carrying his child. Instead of confessing, he starts building a cover story. Daphne Rose Walton is the one who hands it to him, and she has no idea she is doing it.

The setup is cruel. Daphne cannot carry a baby, so surrogacy is the plan, and she hates the thought of a stranger doing it for them. She says so out loud, standing right there in front of him. Carter listens to a woman he loves describe the exact hole that Steffy Forrester Finnegan could fill, and something behind his eyes clicks into place.

Then he runs. He tells Daphne something came up, leaves her holding the surrogacy paperwork in the middle of the showroom, and floors it toward Malibu. Anyone following the week by week beats in daytime knows how fast this show moves once a secret gets a deadline. Steffy handed him one when she swore she would tell her husband the truth today.

Steffy Is Already at the Cliff House

She got there first. Steffy is sitting with John “Finn” Finnegan, crying, telling him how much she loves him, working her way toward the sentence that ends her marriage. Finn does not hear a confession coming. He hears his wife falling apart and assumes Monaco broke something in her that he has to fix. Carter Walton is about to save that marriage for all the wrong reasons.

Watch the door. Carter pounds on it claiming an emergency, most likely something at Forrester that cannot possibly wait, and Finn gets pulled toward the hospital by a crisis of his own. The room empties out and leaves the only two people who know the secret standing alone inside it. That is not luck. That is a man who made a pact with Steffy back in August and has come to renegotiate the terms.

Who Is the Father of Steffy’s Baby on Bold and the Beautiful?

Nobody on the show actually knows yet, and that is the part getting skipped in the spoiler chatter. No paternity test has aired. What aired was Steffy taking two home pregnancy tests and doing the math out loud: she has not been intimate with Finn recently, so the baby has to be Carter Walton’s. Two positive sticks confirm a pregnancy. They do not confirm a father.

That gap is the whole story. Carter is about to rearrange three marriages around a fact nobody has verified, and this show has run a rigged paternity test before and let a man raise the wrong assumption for a year. My gut tells me that detail comes back with teeth.

What the Surrogacy Cover Story Would Actually Cost

Here is the pitch. Steffy carries the baby, the Waltons call it a surrogacy, Daphne finally gets the child she has been grieving for months, and nobody ever has to say the words one night stand out loud. On paper it is tidy. In practice Carter Walton would be asking his wife to raise the product of his affair and to thank him for it.

And Finn would be living across town from a pregnancy he was told had nothing to do with him. Taylor Hayes is already circling, telling Ridge Forrester that her daughter seems off, and Ridge spent last week congratulating Carter on becoming a father without understanding a word of what he was saying. Reading between the lines, everyone close to this is one overheard sentence away from the whole thing coming down.

Carter Just Bought Himself Nine Months

I do not buy that Steffy says yes. This is a woman who took off her wedding ring over a lie he told by leaving something out, and Carter is asking her to build a far bigger one and then live inside it until spring. She might stall. She is not signing on clean.
