Nina Reeves spent her morning at the Metro Court Gardens doing something almost embarrassingly ordinary: mentioning to Sonny Corinthos that she might need a lawyer, in case. Minutes later, Agent Baines walked up and arrested her for Jack Brennan‘s murder in front of a restaurant full of witnesses. Nina fought every step of the way out that door, and she had every right to. She has no idea where Jack’s body is, and no idea who put it there.

Drew Cain and Ava Jerome know exactly where it is, because they’re the ones who buried it. Drew planted Jack’s wallet in Nina’s car himself, and Ava stood three feet away today saying nothing while an innocent woman got hauled off for a crime that belongs entirely to the two of them.

The One Card Drew Hasn’t Played Yet

Here’s what makes Drew dangerous: he isn’t only sitting on a body. He’s sitting on the fact that Willow Tait shot him and has spent months holding a syringe over his head to keep him quiet about it. Willow also happens to be Nina Reeves’s biological daughter, the twin she spent years searching for. If Drew wants Nina out of a cell, he doesn’t need a lawyer. He needs one conversation with the woman who has the most personal reason on earth to make it happen.

The offer writes itself: give me everything, and I make sure your mother walks. It’s the kind of deal Drew has never once been too proud to make, and Willow has never once been in a position to refuse when her own family is the price on the table.

Freeing Nina Means Sacrificing Ava

The problem is that Drew can’t clear Nina without explaining how he knows she’s innocent, and that explanation starts and ends with Ava. To trade Willow’s secret for Nina’s freedom, Drew has to hand the WSB exactly what he’s spent weeks hiding: that Ava helped him bury the body and has known the whole time an innocent woman was going down for it. He’s not offering up his own exposure. He’s offering up his partner as the down payment.

Drew has done this before. He framed his best friend’s mother without blinking, and he’ll burn Ava the same way if it buys Willow’s silence and Nina’s freedom in the same move. The only thing he hasn’t accounted for is that Ava doesn’t do collateral damage quietly.

Ava Doesn’t Wait To Be Thrown Under The Bus

Ava Jerome has survived being framed for murder before, and she isn’t about to let Drew Cain make her the fall guy a second time. The moment she senses him circling the WSB with her name loaded in his mouth, she gets there first, and she doesn’t stop at defending herself. She points the finger back at Drew and tells them he’s the one who actually killed Jack, not the one who buried him.

It’s the accusation that changes everything, true or not. Drew helped hide a body and built the entire frame against Nina Reeves with his own hands, and once Ava puts him at the center of Jack’s death instead of the cover-up, there’s no version of this where he talks his way free.

The Frame He Built Closes Around Him Instead

Nina Reeves walks out the way she walked in: innocent, finally believed. Drew Cain walks into a cell instead, for a killing Ava says was his alone, even if the truth underneath it is messier than that. Right down to sharing a cell block with Curtis Ashford and Jenz Sidwell, it’s the kind of ending Port Charles specializes in: the schemer buried by the exact plan he thought would save everyone but himself.
