No clinic, no retrieval, and not one frame of this show has ever put Steffy in a fertility chair. He made it up on the spot to stop her mouth.

Rewind a minute and it is worse. Daphne Rose Walton walked in saying it was too much to ask Steffy to carry for them. Carter answered for Steffy before she could breathe: she had decided to turn their hurt into something beautiful. Daphne turned to her friend and asked if it was true. Steffy hedged that she knows how much Daphne wants a child, which is not a yes, and Carter interrupted again to gush.

Then Daphne took her hand and said this would make them family for real, like sisters. That is the moment Steffy tried to confess, and the moment Carter buried her. When Daphne asked whether Steffy had talked to Finn, Steffy admitted he does not know, and Carter covered again: she wanted to gauge their interest first. Steffy shot him a look. Steffy Never Said Yes

Read the ending carefully, because circulating chatter is going to flatten it. Daphne said sharing this journey with her best friend would mean the world. Steffy, choked up, said that if she is the right candidate, she will consider it. Consider and candidate: two escape hatches in one sentence. Then Daphne pulled her into a hug and Steffy looked like a woman being buried alive.

That hedge matters. Our column already laid out how the surrogate deal betrays Finn, and today Steffy did not close that deal. She left herself a door. Carter Walton has now lied to Daphne three times in three days: Friday’s “she agreed,” today’s “gauging interest,” and today’s frozen eggs. Only one of those has a paper trail.

Did Steffy Agree to Be Daphne’s Surrogate on The Bold and the Beautiful?

No. She said she would consider it if she is the right candidate, and she said it while trying not to cry. Every other word of agreement in that scene came out of Carter’s mouth: he said she decided, he said her eggs are frozen, he said she wanted to gauge interest. Taylor Warned Finn About the Wrong Threat

Across town, Taylor Hayes sat in Finn’s office and warned John “Finn” Finnegan that if he lets Sheila back into their lives, he will lose Steffy. Finn swore there will be no contact. Then Taylor got to the real thing: Steffy has not been herself since Monaco, and her instincts say it is something else, something Steffy cannot let go of. Finn blamed himself for Monaco, and Taylor did not buy it.

She was right and did not know it, because the actual threat was holding Daphne’s hand in Steffy’s living room. Meanwhile at Bikini Bar, Sheila Carter sidled up to Deacon Sharpe, moaned about being shut out of Finn and Hayes’s lives, and needled him about Taylor turning down his proposal. Sheila told him Taylor ripped his heart out and cannot give him the love he deserves, which is Sheila for “I still can.”

My gut tells me Carter Walton just handed the writers his own exit. If I know this show, the frozen eggs line is the thread somebody pulls, and the somebody is Li. Do not be surprised if Steffy fails that screening on purpose, or by biology, before Carter picks a nursery color.
